Prob around 25 years. I'm 38 and the last time was when I broke my arm in high school. Thankfully I'm pretty healthy.
...this excludes dental and vision.

Might want to rethink that as well - fines are going up next year as well.

Got my Blue Cross notice last week that due to A. H. C. A. changes going into effect Jan. 1 deductible goes from 10k to 11k and monthly premium for wife and me goes from $735 to &1692. Older than most of you but still years from medicare and both in good health.

I am not a sickly person at all, so I am seriously considering this. My only problem is that then you are literally handing the govt free money.
I cant wrap my brain around being fined for something that should be optional. Bunch of fricking crooks.

Let's see..... $4,560 in Insurance I will not use or a $750 fine...
Plus even if I want to use said insurance I have a $3600 deductible first. No think you, if need be I will just go to the ER and take money out of savings to pay for it.

do some research.
no, not a direct result of ACA.
perhaps your employer has stopped supporting you.
That's the most likely answer.
There are several "blue Cross" companies.
choose another plan. sign ups are coming next month. Do your homework. Call a broker. call personnel.

Or just go to the ER and do what 33% of all patients do: never pay a dime.

I can hand the government a little bit of free money or I can hand a lot more money to a government backed private company.
I have blood pressure ticks, but I can keep it controlled. No need to medicate. I will keep dental insurance because I think it is a great deal.
Medical... meh. I have poor friends who just go to charity hospital and end up fine. I can do that.

I actually care about my credit score.

But, it's for the greater good! Trust Democrats - they wouldn't lie to you.

I daresay you've got some deferred maintenance that is going to cost your insurance carrier dearly. Be thankful that you no longer have that high deductible with lifetime limits.

I wonder what your deductible is? One of my staff members had an affordable policy for her and her daughter pre ACA. I think it was $225/mo with $2500 deductible.
Post ACA her policy was cancelled and the best she could do was $729/mo with a $6500 deductible.
So she has to pay $15,248 out of pocket before she benefits from any insurance. This sounds like the banned what we used to call major medical insurance.
I wonder what it will look like in two years?!

Yeah, except, it most likely isn't the answer considering my insurance is not through my employer. Their insurance policy is even shittier.

Maybe it had something to do with what ACA forces businesses to do?

I think the fine is a set amount OR 2.5% of your taxable income... whichever is higher.
So if you make more than $30K a year you're gonna pay more than $750

Due to rising costs attributed to ACA, my employer no longer will insure an employee's spouse if that spouse has ins. offered at their place of employment.
I can insure my step children, but not my wife.

What is this deferred maintenance you are talking about?????

Yes. You didn't want your old, crappy (affordable) plan, anyway, did you?
Forward!

I thought the 2.5 goes into effect for 2016 tax season and the $750 was for 2015.
