Bumping this - for the damage to recruiting he caused. If he was never planning to fire Les he should have come out earlier in the week. Who cares about his personal policy not to discuss coaching during the year? Miles held an impromptu press conference to discuss his Michigan departure.
Instead, Joe has added a level of insecurity in any recruits head that his job will still be on the line next year. Why would you want to commit 100% when you have serious doubts about who your coach will be?
I'm not saying he shouldn't have fired Les - but if he wasn't going to he should have come out sooner. The Jimbo talk was ridiculous and is a complete lateral move.
Furthermore, after ruining the Duke Lacrosse players reputation, failing to stand by his students, and firing an awesome Lacrosse coach for what turned out to be a completely fabricated indictment he should have never been allowed to be the AD of LSU. It was a move up and ridiculous - after botching the job that bad at Duke he should have never been allowed to be the AD at LSU - he should have been the AD and University of North Texas or an athletic department around that size - certainly not one of the largest athletic departments in the country.
