It was the 90 Ruston team and its not even close.

They also had a Louisiana high school football hall of fame coach that was on the sideline of that 90 Ruston team

quote:I will disagree here. WM played them a hell of a lot closer than the 14-3 final score. DJ Banks threw a pick 6 late in the 4th to put them up. Had WM scored, would have been 10-7 WM
They won the 5A State Championship with ease that season.

Very true but there is a lot of talent in Ruston area with not much competition of schools, only Cedar Creek. I've been told many of best athletes at the school don't even play football now.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned '06 or'07 Bastrop.
Rueben Randle
Randall Mackey
DeAngelo Benton (?)
Their whole D-line went SEC I think. I watched them play once and they were amazing.

Those teams were awesome. Won it 3 years in a row. Randle played QB his sr year after Mackey left and ran wild

They had two kickers.
Ken Taft and Mike Metzger
Taft went to La Tech on a baseball scholly I believe.

1990 Ruston High Football Team is your answer.

Sorry Harris, accidental down vote due to spastic thumb. 98 WMHS team was loaded with Dr talent..

1990 Ruston team was the best I have seen. We played them in the playoffs. 1st round game. We had a good team only lost 1 game. We got destroyed. Even their 2nd team moved the ball all over us. I was o my a sophomore and didn't play. Very cold game. Was not fun

That 96 WM team was pretty stacked.

They beat Catholic by 42 points, but whose really counting! I still have nightmares from that game. Not only was Chick Childress coaching, it was his last game.
Someone mentioned 12 players from that team moving on to play college football. If I remember correctly it was 12 players from that senior class. I'm sure there were underclassmen on that team that went on to play college football as well.
As another poster mentioned the '89 Ouachita Team was pretty talented as well, but in my opinion nowhere close to the '90 Ruston Team.
