That just shows how bad the media and journalist are today. The journalist was once a profession that people trusted and respected. The profession now is just narcissist people wanting to have their fame and being the first to report a news worthy issue. Those kids from Duke got royally screwed and I am glad they sued Duke. The DA ended up being disbarred and the lead investigator ended up committing suicide.

Not team mates. A bunch of liberal pussies that go to school at Duke.

Nyphong fricked everyone. He should be in prison.

He was handcuffed then just like he is handcuffed now because of the LA budget crisis..he cares more about public perception than making the athletic Dept better.

He is not handcuffed by some so called budget crisis. He is handcuffed by Dale Brown and Collis Temple.

Nope, he could have stood on principles and quit if it had come to that. Dude would be a hero today. Worst kind of leader or boss is the one who caves to what outsiders say about those on the team, etc. Stand up for those you represent or lead.

absolutely. He completely threw the kids under the bus to save face. The kids said they absolutely were innocent and as AD it's his job to stand by his kids. He failed on that.

Not really. His job is to run the athletic department and make money.

just watched this documentary today. I am not an Alleva fan either, but he had no choice in the Duke situation and it was not his fault. All of America was crying for the players and team to be suspended. He was handcuffed into a decision.

Yeah, just proves the guy has no balls. I don't think he had a choice in a lot of decisions. Which still begs the question of, why the frick is he an AD then?

I agree! I think it was a dumb hirer and I think he has done a poor job since being here.

As far as the previous poster saying he should have just walked away instead of throwing the guys under the bus. Did you watch the documentary? It was a shite show and at the time when he made the decision all signs pointed to the fact that they were guilty and the email from one of the players just came out stating the awful things they wanted to do to the stripper. Alleva had his professional career in mind and all Duke athletics. It was a terrible hirer by lsu, but the duke lacrosse shite show was way bigger than Alleva.

2/3 of the faculty? 88 people signed the petition. There are more than 3000 faculty. A strong AD would have stuck up for the players and persuaded Brodhead for more time. Cancelling a season is unheard of in modern sports.

Alleva is a coward. His assistant AD had a son on the 2005 team. Had good inside info and was ignored by Brodhead and Alleva. Alleva is a classic yes man. He inherited Coach K's success at basketball and stayed out of his way. Failed to do anything with football and made an unbelievably horrendous hire for baseball, allegedly his sport of expertise. He hired an abusive redneck with a losing record at a mid major who led the team to a shockingly low APR for a school like Duke, and Alleva gave him way too much time until the school paper wrote that he encouraged steroid use and 2 players tried to commit suicide.

Alleva is thoroughly incompetent at everything he does. That LSU hired him is mind-boggling.

It goes well beyond those 88 professors. After the petition was signed three academic departments and 13 academic programs representing a plethora of faculty joined in and supported the petition.

A decade of Carl Franks and Ted Roof followed by a long attempt at getting Karl Dorrell before he hired Cutcliffe. Took until 2012 for Cutcliffe to turn it around, four years after Alleva was gone. Why? Because the program was completely neglected under his watch. Had some of the worst resources and facilities in D-1.

What really pisses me off is that LSU gave Alleva a lofty university administration role like Vice Chancellor without any justification.
