I use headphones a fair amount in my office. My GF and I do a lot of work at night and weekends, so I use them then. Obviously in traveling. I use them in working out too.

I understand people who don't want to shell out hundreds for them, much less several pairs, but I get a lot of use out of mine. Plus, there is a pretty big sound difference. Even between cheap ear buds and the pretty moderately priced and not extraordinary ear buds I use (Bose Freestyles) there is a very noticeable difference.

I'm not an audiophile but I do appreciate being able to listen to good quality recordings. Mid range headphones are a cost-efficient way for me to do that.

Not to mention that the law of diminishing returns kicks in QUICKLY with audio.

For $100 you can greatly improve your listening experience--it makes a world of difference.
