And Ringo was a very good drummer. That old thing where people slag him is a sure sign they don't know what they're talking about.

I always found Ringo to be a good enough drummer who would show some signs of substantial talent on certain tunes (i.e. "Rain.")

The guy couldn't do a simple press roll. Sorry but he wasn't a good drummer. Compared to his contemporaries, he was just talented enough to do the job. Jo Jones, Art Blakey, Louie Bellson, Kenny Clarke, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Roy Haynes. Now those are THE drummers of the early 60's.
