It's more about who your fan base is.
When country music fans aka majority conservative are your bread and butter, why even take a stand publicly at all? No one would care what their opinions were if they just kept it to themselves.
What does Carrie Underwood think about Obama or Trump? What does Taylor Swift think about Obama or Trump? I don't know, because they don't go around talking about it either way.
The Dixie Chicks didn't make a name for themselves or build their audience being an anti establishment/anti war/activist band, so it really made no sense for them to go there other than their own hubris/thinking anyone gave a shite about their political opinion
