GoFundMe accounts? Am I the only one who finds this despicable?

I can understand GoFundMe accounts for family catastrophes like cancer, dad suddenly dying, kids funerals and so forth.

But I just saw a guy ask about starting one for his sick cat.

Am I the only one who thinks this is pathetic compared to people who have real problems? Or is this the new millennial thing to do; just beg for money for every little problem in life?...(and I'm a millennial for full disclosure)

It is pretty pathetic in my opinion other than in times when true charity might be needed like you mentioned.

Thanks for "pre-millennialing" this thread so we could get straight to the point.

Don't like it then don't give money. Simple as that.

i'm a man. I'm 38 years old

Do not find them terrible at all

If stupid people want to give me money, who am I to complain?

It is modern day snake oil.

Don't really get the big deal. If people know why they're giving someone money why do you care?

If some girl says she wants everyone to pay for her boob job and they give her the money for it, who's hurt by that?

The first time I heard about gofundme, I thought it was only for real serious situations. Like you said, family member with cancer, a sudden death or a kid's funeral.. A family who completely lost everything due to a natural disaster, etc... But when I seen all of the reasons people were asking for money, I couldn't believe it. People have no shame.

Having too much pride might not always be the best thing to have, but I have too much pride to ever even consider that as an option... No matter what. Well, I guess if it was a matter of survival I would, but other than that.. frick that.

I have more respect for the girls who hire themselves out to sugar daddies. At least they are earning their money.
