Oklahoma is 74-5 vs Iowa state in football. And they've only lost once to them in the last 50 years

Nolan Ryan played against both Mickey Mantle, who started his career in 1951, and Tim Wakefield, who retired in 2011.

Or look at it another way...

Nolan Ryan started his career only 5 years after Ted Williams' last year in the league, and Ted Williams entered the league in 1939, and Nolan Ryan retired only 2 years before Derek Jeter entered the league, and Jeter retired in 2014.

So Nolan Ryan was nearly a connection between two all-time greats, one of which started in 1939 and one who retired in 2014.

Wilt Chamberlain didn’t win MVP the year he scored 50.4 points and grabbed 22.9 rebounds per game. (Bill Russell did.)

Wilt’s 50.4 ppg season is 31.6% better than the next-highest scoring average in history. (Elgin Baylor’s 38.3 ppg is second and was also set in 1962).

LSU is one of those teams that went to the Final 4 four times in its history, but has only went to the NCAA Tournament just 6 times since 1993.

Jim Mora and Marvin Lewis were head coaches for a grand total of 29 years in the league between them.

They have a cumulative record of: 243-209-3 (0.537).

Their regular season % is individually and cumulatively better than FIVE SB winning coaches.

1. Tom Coughlin (.531 - 2 wins)
2. Tom Flores (.527 - 2 wins)
3. Dick Vermeil (.524 - 1 win)
4. Gary Kubiak (.522 - 1 win)
5. Weeb Ewbank (.502 - 1 win)

Only Mora has a better % than Gruden (.540 - 1 win)

They cumulatively made the playoffs 13 times with a record of 0-13....

Babe Ruth threw a no hitter, without throwing a single strike.

Carroll Hardy was the only person to pinch hit for Ted Williams.

Carroll Hardy was the only person to pinch hit for Carl Yastrzemski.

Frank Reich leading the biggest comebacks in both CFB and NFL history. First as a Terp down to Miami 31-0 and then as a Bill down to the Oilers 35-3 in a Wilcard game.

I think MSU broke the college one in '06 but the pro record still stands.

And Northwestern never having played in an NCAA tourney was news to me.

Greg Maddux once threw a 76 pitch complete game.

Greg Maddux had a 3-0 count on batters five times total in 1997.

Navy once lost 43 straight years to Notre Dame.

The Texans beat Pittsburgh 24-6 one year and had 47 yards of total offense.

Minnie Minoso played in the MLB in five different decades (1949-1980).

Mariano Rivera postseason statistics. Unbelievable.
[/img]
And then there's this:
quote:

It’s practically impossible for a pitcher to allow less than a run per nine innings.... So now think of Mariano Rivera’s postseason career as two seasons. The first goes from Oct 4, 1995 to Oct 18, 2001, and spans 71 innings. Rivera allows seven runs, six of them earned; 0.89 runs per nine, 0.76 ERA. The second “season” goes from Oct 21, 2001 to Oct 6, 2011, spans 70.1 innings. Rivera allows six runs, five of them earned; 0.77 runs per nine, 0.64 ERA.

ETA: I dont know what is more impressive, the WHIP or ERA.
He had three blown saves total, and they all came in the same year.

If Wilt had sex 20,000 times in his life, then he had sex 1.1 times per day every single day for 50 years straight assuming the below details.

- He died at age 63
- For simplicity, let's assume he started having sex at 13 to make this simple (he was 6' at age 10 and 6'11" by the time he started high school)

Other than Terrell Owens, no NFL player in history has scored a touchdown against all 32 teams. Terrell Owens has scored TWO or more against all 32. He essentially holds the record twice over

I assume Kerry Wood is the only MLB pitcher to strike out his age. He was a month shy of his 21st birthday when he struck out 20 Astros in 1998.
