How is it that we are predicted to be .500 team based on what we lost and our schedule, yet we will be the most disappointing team? Do we have to go 3-9 to fulfill that?

His main attribute was his ability to recruit and him not closing with Surtain or Goodrich is a major red flag

That's retarded to blame O for what Surtain did. For two solid years, Surtain promised LSU and everyone else that he was coming to LSU. Then he goes and visits Alabama and afterward lets O know that he changed his mind after two solid years that he was going to Alabama instead at 11:00 PM the night before signing day. Only idiots do that to people and he probably did it at the behest of Nick Saban.

There was absolutely nothing O could do about that. Not a damn thing different he could have done. After two solid years, he had to trust Surtain was telling LSU the truth. You can't blame O for what an adolescent immature kid does unless you are as immature as that adolescent kid.

Moreover, he didn't choose Alabama because of O. He chose Alabama because of their record of winning national championships. However, the kid is still scum because of the way he informed O at 11:00 PM the night before signing day.

Had he informed O soon after his visit to Alabama that he had changed his mind, O would have had the chance and the time to get someone else, but unfortunately, that's not what he did. Hence, to me, Surtain and his dad are scumbags for what they did to LSU and O, and it's hard for me to believe that they are both that stupid, so I believe it was intentional at Saban's behest.

Anyway, since you blame O for what happened, as you are insinuating that he muffed it all up, then explain to us exactly what you would have done differently had you been in O's shoes? I mean that's only fair because you are blaming it all on O.

Moreover, LSU and everyone else misses on players every year. Look at Nick Saban, he missed on four players he thought were in the bag on signing day.

Furthermore, missing on one cornerback isn't the end of the world. Sure it would have been nice to get one, but again it's not the end of the world. The class overall was pretty damn good considering how piss-poor the damn Louisiana crop of elite players in the state was and because unlike Les Miles classes in the past, with the exception of only one cornerback, this class actually met our needs.

In fact, we finished with the number one ranked wide receiver class, the number three ranked defensive line class, the number six ranked linebacker class, and the number nine ranked offensive line class.

Not to mention, that the class contains several under-ranked players like for instance, Davin Cotton, who everybody says would have been a five star had he not been injured in his senior year. Jamar Chase was actually ranked higher than Terrace Marshall in the final 247 Sports rankings that didn't count toward the final recruiting tally and Dantrieze Scott was also ranked up from a three star to a four star in those same final rankings that also didn't count in the final recruiting class rankings. Also, in those final rankings, Dare Rosenthal also moved up from a low four-star to a high four-star in those same final rankings. Hence, everyone pissing on O and last year's recruiting class are idiots that don't know anything about recruiting and football.

In addition, for two years when Kelvin Joseph was a cornerback he was ranked as a five-star recruit, and then when he became a safety in his senior season, he was dropped to a high four-star recruit.

Which is why O is moving Kelvin Joseph back to cornerback to make up for the lost of Surtain. So you guys panicking over the loss of just one damn cornerback are crying over spilled milk. As soon as Joseph arrives on campus, he will make up for the lost of Surtain.

Not to mention, we should know something about Fulton's situation in the next couple of months. His attorney believes he has a strong case and that he will win Fulton's appeal to the NCAA. So we will see what happens with that situation. I have my fingers crossed.

People need to be prepared for a rough year. We could easily be 2-2 after the 4th game before we even play Georgia, Alabama. I see 8-4 as the expectation but could easily be lower breaking in a ton of new offensive personnel. Our defense will be the reason we win more games than we lose.

I agree defense should be fun to watch and I expect the offense will at least attempt to open it up a little. I just don't have any confidence in Orgeron and that has nothing to do with what other lsu fans think about him.

Think about how the bar has been lowered. 9-3 is starting to be considered good. Miles was blasted for going 9-3/8-4. ...and I think it was past time for Miles to go.

I disagree... LSU lost that game by NOT going for it on the 1 yard line.. Whats wrong with you????

Indeed, it's only haters that use that bowl game to demonize O. Just like the same haters demonized O with that fluke Florida lost the year before

So whats the excuse for the Troy loss.......

Dude, are you for real? You want LSU to fail? That's what you just said and that tells me you don't belong on this board.

We won those games last year without a consistent FG kicker which will also be fixed in 2018.

People assuming this is an automatic are ridiculous. Yeah, the kid we got was good in D2, but he’s never kicked in an SEC environment.

My bar isn't lowered, I simply realize what condition this teams roster was in and see that we have real talent across the board now. That talent now needs time to develop and create a team dynamic with one another.

You don't just win automatically and everyone knows this but expects something different. There is always a process involved but especially with a new staff coming in. I'm realistic enough to know to let that process play out before making my judgments. If LSU just keeps firing coaches and heads of the program then no consistency will be formed to see real results. Once that is all in place after 3 or 4 years, and we still aren't seeing the program being elevated, at that point I'll start saying yes it's time to move forward. At least at that point other coaches would see that they would get a fair shot to improve the program in their own way.

I just happen to think that O will start to turn things around by the time the judgement is actually bestowed upon him. Miles had over a decade and had a roster stacked when he got here. He didn't really restock that talent until 2009, 10 and 11 and then had some recruiting classes full of holes in the most important positions. DL, OL, QB, and LB.

Miles would load up one year at DL or LB and then slack off the next for what ever reasons. If Miles would have kept plugging away at the DL, LB, OL, and QB positions, he would probably still be here. Every year it seemed as if LSU was young at extremly important positions and we were bc he wouldn't keep restocking those positions every year. I say OL but he kept that up fairly well, it was that the talent wouldn't fit pass pro offense very well and so they always struggled in pass pro.

Orgeron and his staff is putting a premium on the front seven and the OL. He's recruiting some extremly talented players that are versatile. Now he needs to keep plugging away at the QB position and he made some mistakes with the CB position last year but that can be fixed. Personally I'm looking forward to what the future looks like. We really need to land Gunnel but if we do then that will go a long way to solidifying the future of this offense. I'm still at a wait and see.

Exactly.

The kickers we had who fared poorly last season kicked in a more pressure-packed environment in 5A-level high school than in NCAA Division 2.

8-4 is the floor with Aranda running the D. I see 10-2.

We had a dominant D the past couple years and didn't go 10-2 in either.

We now have bigger holes in the secondary (who's opposite Greedy, who's nickel, who's the backups), less experience on the line, lose a premier pass rusher.

And considering we are losing an experienced QB and the top WR, and no longer have preseason All Americans at RB, the offense would be under question even if it was running the same system... which it isn't. Even if you make the assumption that Ensminger will return to the 2016 style of playcalling, he's doing so without Fournette, Guice, Chark, Dural, Dupre, and Etling. Of the guys we lose and replace, only Brennan for Etling could be considered an upgrade, and we don't really know for sure with that.

I get the feeling we're riding on "LSU/SEC" reputations nationally.

“ i’m still at wait and see.”’

Four losses while playing our weakest schedule in perhaps 20 years. Two of those losses being of the embarrassing variety. A bowl loss when we were afraid to go for it from the 6 inch line.

My wait and see has turned into, I’ll believe it when I see it and until that time my expectations are pretty dang low.

We are already heading into year 3 of the Ed Orgeron era. Barring some major miracle, it’s time for him to go.

Sounds as if that will be added motivation to prove everyone wrong. Coaches and players have to love it.
