You're responding to my posts that aren't directed to you. Who's triggered again?
The only thing I've come out against regarding Tesla is the EV credits 100% of their vehicles get (although others have laid out serious problems with the cars and company, too). My stance remains consistent and without a shred of hypocrisy: if any company can't exist on its own without those government subsidies, then it deserves to go under. It's a blanket statement for all companies. I've acknowledged GM is guilty of it and I'm against it for them, too. I'm against it for Nissan, and Ford, etc., but you're clearly butthurt because I came out against Tesla and that has you seeing red. There are zero Nissan, GM, or Ford fanboys in this thread making asses of themselves like you are.
Get over it and move on. Stop projecting and accusing others of being emotional when you need to go look in the mirror and take a deep breath.
Done here.

quote:I wouldn't say a lot, but definitely enough. There may be some remote routes all over America I'm obviously not aware of, but you can essentially go from any major city to another and always be within range of a super charging station.
Are there a lot of charging stations to be found between major cities?
I live in the DFW area and there are 2 in the immediate DFW area and maybe 4-5 if you branch out a bit farther. But again, that's just super charging stations. They have EV charging stations in tons of places nowadays, my old work had one in the parking garage.
quote:At home, it's about 30miles every hour added. At a super charging station you can go from virtually 0 to 100% in about 45 minutes. I'd say the avg charge if you're out and about is 15-20 minutes. It slows down a lot as it's getting full but in the middle the charge really flies. That site I linked above(and the in car navigation) is great because if I, say, plan a trip from my home in DFW to New Orleans, it doesn't just plan to stop at a station and fill up to 100% and go to the next. It plans the drive perfectly to be as efficient as possible and charge as little as possible with most charges stopping well before 100% so you can still get blazing speeds but also still have another battery to get to the next one. So on that DFW to New Orleans, which is 10 hours, it would take 4 stops for a total of 51 minutes charging and cost $13.
I honestly don’t know. And how long does it take to charge?

I was just curious and looked it up and we have 12 or so in BR. Kind of surprised me.

quote:Who was the "fanboy" you were referring to then? Tell me the name of the person, and I'll concede I was wrong. Funny though, as the "fanboy" you referenced and detailed what he was arguing about was ALL the same stuff you argued about, but now you want to say that you weren't talking about me? Ok, so which poster was it?
You're responding to my posts that aren't directed to you
quote:It's you, very obviously.
Who's triggered again?
quote:Right, very misdirected. I don't even think Tesla could NOT have teh credits even if they wanted to. It's strictly between the government and consumer. So are you insinuating you wished EVs would just go away entirely? That's the only way your argument is logical.
The only thing I've come out against regarding Tesla is the EV credits
quote:You can't wait til Tesla is done over credits they have no control over but you've never said you can't wait til GM is done over billions the government has given them directly. Eh, if not hypocritical, as I said it's woefully misguided.
My stance remains consistent and without a shred of hypocrisy
quote:So if someone wanted to sell EVs the "honest" way, how would they do so without the subsidies that I'm fairly confident they can't ban buyers from taking advantage of?
if any company can't exist on its own without those government subsidies, then it deserves to go under.
quote:And yet I've given you a chance for 10 pages to say you can't wait til GM is done, and you simply won't say that, while also telling me how unbiased you are.
I've acknowledged GM is guilty of it and I'm against it for them, too.
quote:Unless they get government money to the tune of billions directly but NOT in the form of tax credits, right?
It's a blanket statement for all companies
quote:Nope, not at all. I'm the one remaining rational and trying to have a simple conversation like adults do, but you clearly can't do that, but I'm the triggered one
but you're clearly butthurt
quote:I've been as calm as can be in this thread, not taking personal shots and name calling, something that you can't say the same. Looks like you're the one seeing red, you now that, so you're just lashing out at me now.
I came out against Tesla and that has you seeing red.
quote:Sorry that facts make you so angry.
There are zero Nissan, GM, or Ford fanboys in this thread making asses of themselves like you are.
quote:Except I haven't been remotely as emotion as you, factually speaking. I've stuck to facts, they make you angry, that's what is happening here.
Get over it and move on. Stop projecting and accusing others of being emotional when you need to go look in the mirror and take a deep breath.

Yeah it looks like it.
My neighbor has a Tesla but I've never really looked at it. I'm more of a truck guy tbh.

Sounds to me like you agree with the other guy.
My comments were more in support of electric vehicles in general and the way Tesla pushed the industry forward, than Tesla specifically.

I don't disagree with anything you said in this post. I'm a free-market libertarian.

That's great. Up until you're on a highway with 2 lanes like the Florida Turnpike and an accident shuts down the road for an hour or so. And then is moving at a crawl for 50 miles after that. Hope that trip planning left a lot of reserve in there. And who wants to take 20 minutes to refuel/recharge when you're traveling?

quote:It's no different with a regular car. An EV cars battery can die, a regular car can run out of gas. You can charge it more if that makes you more comfortable. It also does have a "reserve" in that it doesn't actually die right at 0%, much like a regular car doesn't die right when it shows you have 0 miles left.

An EV car isn't for everyone. It adds time to a road trip. It also saves a good bit of money. Pros and cons.

Does Musk have a patent on this technology? If not, he has nothing to sell, because the company is in debt.

I never had much of an opinion on Tesla, until I drove one. The lot I work for has a 2017 Model S. The handling and acceleration is crazy. I hope it never sells so I can keep driving it.
I got to drive a Tesla Model S for a few hours. Friend married a Tesla engineer and needed my truck to move.
Never had more fun driving a vehicle. If you turn the radio off, it’s silent. It had some self drive tech with a dozen or so sensors on the car. The dashboard shows the lanes next to you and when vehicles are around like Mario Kart. You flip the blinker when no cars are in the opposite lane, the car automatically changes lanes. Super cool, but I think you have to touch the wheel every 10 seconds to use it, not like you crack open the morning paper and let it drive

Pro tip - just scroll one of the 2 scroll wheels on the steering wheel to make that notification go away each time.
