Maybe the 20 story structural gap created by the falling debris had something to do with it?
extrapolate that to having around 500,000 tons falling from the sky onto the ground across the street. IMHO that would cause a pretty massive shake in the ground similar to an earth quake. Now, that happened twice. It seems pretty plausible a next door building could have crumbled from that force.

Not only that, but from the first signs of the loss of structural integrity to the actual collapse was over 4 hours. Thats one mighty slow controlled demolition!
