I agree, that would be impossible to truly tell who needs it for pain and who doesn't. But I am saying if I was a coach and had a guy on my team who was legitimately hurting to the point where he wasn't able to sleep and recover. I would choose what I personally consider the lesser of the 2 evils and let him smoke, over getting a doctor to write him a prescription for pain killers.

Another question: how does breaking the weed law compare to breaking the underaged drinking law? I can guess that the usual "but it's da rulz" crowd here would be outraged if Divinity were kicked off the team for having a beer.

Serious question. Please link to the players using that excuse. Because I haven't seen it -- here or elsewhere.
By the way, I think it's a very tough argument to make that a college kids needs weed to deal with football pain. Again, maybe a 35 year old whose body has been destroyed by football needs more pain management, but a 20 year old kid? Come on.

I'm not old enough to have a 14 year old but 14-15 is a kids Freshman year of high school. A lot of parents, especially in Louisiana, let their kids drink. Maybe not openly in front of them but definitely look the other way. I think alcohol is much worse for a kid's body and brain development. By the time I'm old enough to have kids in high school I think it'll probably be more common for parents to let their kids use marijuana than it is now. If I was a parent I'd much rather my kid eat a brownie and go see a movie, play video games, or just chill with his/her stoned arse friends than go out and get drunk off their asses all the time.

That's only with chronic use. Using a few times isn't going to do anything. Chronic acetaminophen use will destroy your liver, but you probably have no problem giving your kid Tylenol. It's all about moderation.

That’s not true.
I had an emergency appendectomy. Left the hospital in less than 24 hours with no pain killers prescribed. Smoked weed for the pain.
I will never again take an opiate for pain.
