You know how much money LSU has made since August? They can afford $2 mil for Leonhard

It's not about LSU having enuff money right now. It has more to do with structuring employees long term contracts. Where does he go from a 2million starting salary? Raises in his future? Do you end up paying him more than the head coach? What if he just does not fit or he is not what you thought you were buying? There have been numerous OC's and DC's that got credit for teams that turned out to be more of the HC's influence. You have to buy out the contract. Like bad hire Canada. Which LSU either just paid off or are still paying.

He’ll be the next HC at Wisconsin.

It’s going to take a substantial pay increase to get Leonhard from Wisky, what’s wrong with a 4 years $2 mil a year deal? When’s the last time LSU fired a DC? Look at the work he’s done at Wisconsin, taking 1/2 the talent lsu has and turned it into Top 5 defenses. Who says we have to increase his salary every year, if he lasts 4 years and doesn’t seek HC somewhere, you cross that bridge when you get there.

You aren’t going to get someone good for less that $1.5 at least for DC or OC nowadays

Make him say “no,” but he’s a Wisky alum.

I don’t think he leaves his alma mater for LSU.

Leonhard would be the highest paid coordinator/assistant at Georgia with his 2019 pay according to USA Today's list.

Aranda talked about how different it is coaching defense in the SEC vs the big ten. There it’s all about execution but here it’s about scheme. Can this guy handle that?

Jim Leonhard is exactly where he needs to be! He fits in the Big Ten, would get embarrassed in the SEC!
