I had to hook up the C line to power mine, would get stuck in a constant cycle trying to power the Nest.
The Nest will run the fan or something like that to power itself when it gets down to a certain batter power left. I dont remember specific details.

I would be curious to see what the HVAC folks had to say about issues and the ecobee differences and nest shortcomings.

One of the HVAC techs provided a fairly detailed answer to the issues with the Nest, certainly wasn’t a C-wire issue, b/c a HVAC tech, and most DYIers can fix that issue in a heartbeat. But I just can’t remember the details. I think I bookmarked his answer, but with the HVAC-Talk forum site down there is no way to get to it. Don’t know know how long site has been down, as I would look at several days per week during summer and fall, but I haven’t looked at it in a couple months during the winter. My interest in cooling issues is higher than my interest heating.
