Time to burn the NCAA down they serve no purpose anymore

WTF are we supposed to do from now until football starts? Or have they canceled football as well.

Why did it go from playing without fans to not playing at all so fast?

$$$$

When the NCAA lost the March Madness revenue it no longer had the cash to fund the remainder of the championships. Football funds the Fall and basketball funds the Spring.

The NCAA does not make money on any other sport. It was simple economics. No basketball....no money.

It’s all about a response in proportion to the risk, and what is going on with this Coronavirus is way out of proportion to the risk. I’m not against taking reasonable precautions, but this overreaction is ridiculous.

the whole country has been melting up for a long time now. time for some melting down and it's not going to be a lot of fun. sports are just a small part of what's coming down.

Listen to this cretin trying to disparage me for being a male nurse. This is right on brand for a misogynistic, uneducated person. Shitting on me for a profession where I literally do good for a living, have a pretty nice six figure income, am a member of the consistently most trusted profession in the country, and am a member of a strong union with a pension. I’m shocked.

He's jealous because you did well in science and are benefiting from it as we are as well.

Think beyond your own selfish needs. Not just about death rates. This is about "flattening the curve" in hopes of avoiding hospitals being overrun with too many critical cases. Which if done right will result in fewer deaths.

And as to Congress and federal agencies, they are all taking extra steps to minimize the spread, e.g., limited public access, encouraging telework, etc.

but, don't you be naive to think that they are not many doing this to tank the economy and use for political reasons as well.

Politicians have a "good reason" and then there is "the real reason" First lesson taught to me in college by a Louisiana Senator.

More people have died of the flu this year than the covoid-19. This is purely propaganda from the media making this out to be as big as ebola. its crazy. Yes we need to take precautions but they are slowly shutting down all daily life because of something that doesn't even have as high of a death rate than the flu.

The death rate for influenza is around 0.1%. The death rate for COVID-19 is currently around 3.5% in the United States and 6.5% in Italy. This means you are more than 30-65 times as likely to die from COVID-19 if you contract it than influenza. The reason more people die from the flu is there are many more people who have contracted the flu.

While I hate as a sports fan that the seasons have been canceled, as a physician I realize that this is very serious and can rapidly spiral if we don't try to slow this down before it can not be stopped.

Containment is the strategy, and that makes sense, even though I hate losing so much of the games I love.

That statement demonstrates a pathetic lack of reasoning and it is a classic knee- jerk reaction.

Thanks for the data. Maybe someone will take the time to review and understand it.

Prudence will pay off.
