True 4.2 40s are extremely rare. So I say no on that front. But him being one of the best college DBs I'll say yes, he's got a great start to his college career.

Sting doesn’t have quite as much speed on the track as Deion, but he still will likely turn in a sub 4.4 40.
Stingley is also bigger and stronger than Prime.
I think the Charles Woodson comparison is a good one for Stingley. He is a generational player.
Also, to the guy who said no sub 4.3 guys are any good at football: Randy Moss says hello.

Look we all love DS and he may go down as one of the greatest Tigers ever.
But Deion is a HOF football player and was a starting outfielder in MLB.
He and Bo Jackson are the 2 greatest athletes of my lifetime and it’s not even close.

Times were different for Deion. He didn’t play this level of sec ball.
This is why LSU is recognized as the best team of all time.....as a team.
Domination of the best conference and then the best team in Clemson. Stingley was one of the main reasons.
Deion was great. But you’ll never know how good he was in a crap ACC.

He may not run 4.2 but for sure 4.3. His ball skills are among the best. His technique as a DB, for a freshman, is stupid good. I have been watching LSU play since the early 80s and he is hands down the best Freshman DB I have ever seen.

No doubt Sanders gets the nod as a multi-sport athlete. But as a DB or even a football player, I give it to Sting.
I would say Sanders was a track guy playing football and baseball.
Sting IMO, is a Football player who maybe could run track. I have no idea about Sting and baseball.

Sanders relied heavily on his speed to make plays, Sting is very fast but plays IMO with more Technique as a teenager than Sanders did as a full-grown man in the NFL.
Because of this, I think Sting has the ability to be a much better DB than Sanders.
Sanders was always the best athlete on the field and he knew it, but I believe that hurt him from reaching the potential that he could have had.

I saw enough punt returns and int returns in space this past season. He’s shifty and pretty explosive for his size but he’s not elite with the ball in his hands imo. Just because he’s a great corner/athlete doesn’t mean he can be great on offense too.
I’m not saying the guy isn’t good with the ball in his hands, I’m just saying he’s probably closer to average in a league like the sec. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not taking away from the great player he is.
If there’s a to-be sophomore who could be an elite open field runner it’s someone like Emery imo

In 1988, most people didn't foresee Emmitt Smith as the all-time NFL rushing leader. Not great size or speed.
In 1982, most didn't see Reggie White as the GOAT DL.
IDK if Stingley's career will eventually be better than Sanders as a CB. But to suggest that someone can't, and especially someone who had the season Stingley just had, is way too premature.

He legitimately could have played in the NFL while he was a high school senior. He is a pretty phenomenal athlete.
FWIW, I coached high school football in Texas for a few years, did radio for for a few and saw Stingley play in every high school game he participated in. IMHO, I have a decent eye.

I never said Stingley can’t or couldn’t I said it’s too early to compare their careers and it’s crazy to say he has a better skill set when we know for a fact that Deion is faster and can play other pro sports at an elite level.

You must’ve never seen Deion Sanders play corner. There isn’t a scout or coach alive who would agree that Derek Stingley played with better technique last season than Deion in the NFL. Stingley went through a slump mid season where he was getting beat, you think college WRs would’ve done that to Deion as a Pro? Then you preface that by saying you think “teams will avoid Stingley” so you use a made up analysis coupled with basically a dream scenario and use that as your position. Let’s keep this thing focused on what is and fact ok? Do you know why people threw at Deion? He let guys open, he’d bait QBs into throwing at him so he could pick them lol. Seriously we’re in lockdown, go pop in the tape you’ll enjoy it.

Ok but that’s careers, I said it’s insane to claim he’s got a better “skill set”. They’re basically the same size, Deion is Faster with MLB allstar level hand eye coordination and even if Stingley gets to Deion’s level of corner skill and return skill Deion will have those 2 things above him so he’ll need to develop something in other areas to pass him. Which means right now, which is when we’re talking about it, he does not have a “better” skill set.

He’s fast, a DB, a PR and will soon have lay o offense. I’d say he’s a better terry good athlete
