Because of this. But because of this, he won’t, due to politics. You simply don’t allow leaks like this to take place in the military. That’s when it becomes a serious national security issue that jeopardizes the entire ship. There is a chain of command in the military; you don’t go around that to make a point or make yourself the center of attention.

Who leaked the letter? Even Trump has been unable to control the leakers. If Modly leaked, then he can not have job permanently because he will need to be removed. If someone else liked, then they need to be removed.

I actually really like modly. Since he took over as acting he sends a weekly letter to the navy and marine corps about current and future plans. Never had a secnav do that before. It shows transparency.

This is a tough one to get at truly. One the hand there was a serious health concern and everyone in uniform has the right to call “knock it off” if they feel there are unsafe conditions. You also have whistle blower privileges, and a right not to suffer reprisals. None of these seem to have been afforded the Captain.
On the other hand, if it is true he never brought up his grave concerns while on a conference call with his superiors then it is hard to understand his recourse.

Modly is a piece of shite for degrading a commanding officer like that. If any enlisted or anyone in the military said that they would be Captain masted real quick!
Gone are the days of setting a good example!

His arse is gone. Good riddance! All he did was weaken the republic and ruin the career of a man who was a much better naval officer than Modly ever was.

Dude, I don't know how many retired navy Admirals saying he did not deserve to be fired. Everyone knows why he did it. He thought it made Trump look bad with press finding out about this. Modly is scared of Trump and fired Crozier. And just make sure he looks live a good little serf to Trump, he flies 8,000 miles and goes on a profanity-laden admonishment to the crew. What's so funny is that Trump was adamant the Crozier needed to be fired, etc. just two days ago at the virus update. Yesterday, he was "I'm looking into it. I don't want to ruin a man with such exemplary service because he had a bad day." So, basically, Trump threw Modly under the bus (who was trying to protect Trump) once he realized how the winds were blowing.

Why should the head of a Dept be given a reprieve when he refused to address a commanding Officers plea for help with an emergency. According to reports, the Ships Captain only wrote the letter because he could get no help from his superiors.
My Nephew was in Nam. He became concerned because they hardly had enough ammo to defend themselves. He wrote to his Dad, who wrote to his Senator, about the problem. My brother requested that the Senator not tell the military, who had informed him of the situation.
A few weeks later, my nephew's Officer in Charge called him out and threatened to put him in a very hazardous position for the remainder of his military time in Nam.
So much for trusting your "Public Servant" and the respect they have for the military men and women.
