Literally nobody other than insurance agents and boomers whose parents had dementia and now they want to buy LTC insurance call nursing homes "long term care facilities" in everyday use.

Media is usually going to use the proper name of something. People in healthcare call them long term care facilities as well. Nursing home is sort of outdated and only slightly better than the "old folks home" that my parents and grandparents used.

This is definitely what they are referred to in healthcare, what are you talking about
