Had this issue at our old house as well. But it was only an issue when closing, not opening.
Bc the sensor isn’t used when opening and also the door would block the sunlight when closed.

I "fixed" a buddies who complained that his was stuck closed. Went inside and noticed that one of the kids bumped the sensor and it was off alignment. Apparently it is set up as a circuit because as soon as I put it back the door worked fine.
I would check alignment. Spit balling here but if it is just barely in alignment, in the heat of the day, could the heat cause the mount to flex enough to go out of alignment? Granted that would be damn hot. But it is worth checking before you go buying circuit boards.
