I've always enjoyed the #18 tradition. It's typically been wore by solid players who are leaders.

However this year, it seems to be worn by average players who are just older guys.

The only reason Curry is getting reps over Emery or Davis-Price is because the coaches gave him #18, raved about him waiting his turn, and being a leader. Any sane person watched Emery after Vandy and thought he was the guy. NOPE they bring Curry in the first half and it doesn't work.

The whole "we have 3 starters at RB" is great for camp, but it's time let someone take charge like Clyde did last year.

The same issue must be going on with Clark as well. Surely one of the young bucks behind him have to be more athletic. This looks like DJ Welter starting over Beckwith all over again because he was the upper classman.

Once Beckwith got the job the defense did a 180 that year.

We went from a RB with the most vision and balance we have ever had to a back that runs in the back of his OL on EVERY play. How many times did CEH make guys miss in the backfield and make a big play? Curry is a slow north/south battering ram with no vision.

Yeah. I can’t stand watching him run.

Honestly at least DJ tried and knew what to do...he just physically couldn't do it.

#18 is a different story. I watched that cat play last year and he has a motor. Don't know what the frick happened.

Yeah both 18's are a dud.

I've never been much on Curry but he seemed to beef up and looked the part in preseason. Of course I drank the koolaid and thought he was really going to impress this year. He's the same pinball type runner who can't see a hole or make a defender miss. It's like his feet are moving at double speed and his body at half speed as he crashes into the line again and again.

TDP was the guy I thought showed the best promise last year, but after the Vandy game think Emery is the best fit. We need to get him in the game and keep him in the game and only rotate when he needs rest. It should have been Emery trying to score those 2 running goal line tries at the end because he has the best vision of the 3.

18 Clark shouldn't be on the field at any D1 school. He's lost, with zero speed or physicality. I realize that's easy to overlook in a chaotic looking defense as we've had, but the dude is awful. I think Stevens would do a much better job playing Clark's position. I think we need that LB slot filled more importantly than a safety spot. I still can't imagine why Brooks left other than a real problem with Bo because he would have done great instead of Clark.
