I was certainly there for the Curley Hallman games.
But nobody openly advocated cancelling games.
Nor was there a widely held suspicion that our HC would contrive reasons to do so.

I chose that username because it helps quickly to sort out those capable of substantive response to the post, from those whose abilities limit them to throwing rocks or calling names.
You would be a good example of the latter.
Thanks for asking.

I have been going to the games since the 1960's and stayed through the Curley Hallman years. The low point does not happen during an asteric year while we are the reigning National Champions. Although I never have seen such a quick fall from the penthouse to the outhouse.

This year is what mathematicians would call a "local low". Last year was an "absolute high".
I would contend that the "absolute low" of LSU football was the depths of despair in the 6 years of losing during Archer & Hallman.

BS. I was around for curly and archer. They were much worse.

I was around then too.
I guess reasonable minds could differ over which was worse, BUT:
1. This team has real talent on it, and has quit;
2.This defense may be the worst ever; and
3. Curly was paid 90,000/yr. Pelini gets 2.3 million and Orgeron 7 million.

quote:Where are you struggling to grasp through that thick fricking egghead of yours that nobody came out of thin air and said "CANCEL THE GAME!" The situation arose where, because of SEC rules, a good portion of the team has to be in quarantine due to contract tracing. Again, that is from the SEC. Not LSU. Nobody on our side "quit". It just so happens that enough of the team has to sit out to where the game has to be postponed. And it's not just LSU doing it. Other SEC teams as well. We're talking all our tight ends, all our deep snappers, only Finley is available at qb. You can't play a game like that. What are they supposed to do? Roll the ball to the ZVR on punts? Come on.
nobody openly advocated cancelling games.
Listen, the whole season is already fricked. It's nowhere near to being normal. The team is playing piss poor and that's a whole other topic for discussion. Then this happened. A bunch of us (including me) saw this as an unforeseen act of mercy and chance for the team to get their shite together. If looking at it that way is soooooooo bad, then you're the one with a problem. Not the LSU fans.
You're over there throwing a hissy fit and about to jump off the damn bridge over this. And it's nothing.
I'm not trying to be cute or be an a-hole, but may I suggest you step away from this site and take a little break from LSU for a week. Because it's really not anywhere near being the big deal that you're making it out to be. Quit making LSU fans the pariah. I know the situation sucks all around. We all know. But you don't HAVE to point the finger at somebody to deal with it. Just deal with it, and move on. That's how you act like an adult.

Nitwit was obviously not around for the 90’s!

Actually, you seem much more worked up about it than anybody on this thread.

How would you or anyone know? These boards were not around for anyone to see the crazy shite we get to see everyday. I have to believe that some people wished those games were canceled or we forfeited or something stupid back then.

A worldwide pandemic, out of control in the U.S., where over 10 million people have been infected and a quarter of a million have died, and it's a low point for LSU football?
Little problem with perspective, my friend.

Not if they are actually reasonable. You have a pretty clear ax to grind, so grind away while you apologize for old Curley

Yes.
I did not suggest it was an important development in epidemiology or human history.
Just LSU football.
Pay attention, my friend.
