I live in Collin County and use Grayson Collin Electric. They sent out a notification there were NOT raising rates during this time.

In Texas you absolutely have choice of electrical providers. I think I had a dozen or so choices between various plans and providers.

Are they going to raise them after the power comes back on?

Holy shite. How is that kind of increase even possible?

The LNG market is going apeshit right now, and prices are skyrocketing. This was before the big freeze, but right after numbnuts Joe's anti-energy policies. If you're in Louisiana or Texas, you will feel the pain in the next month or 2. Get ready.

Price gouging is now legal!!

It's not price gouging. As stated above, LNG rates were going up prior to the freeze. We are all about to feel it.

I never lost a totals day worth of power, but the statement remains. They said they are not raising rates. This is my provider. Can't speak for everyone else.

Anyone looked at their recent bills after reading this thread?

No.

Because this shite isn’t getting caught on your bill until next month.

I still remember the short sales & foreclosures under Obama. On top of $300 to $900 electric bills in homes. $300 was average for a small place.

Regulations cost money...

But how soon we forget.

This has to be an error.

About to be alot of pissed of Texans. Good thing we have a choice for electricity providers! Oh wait...

I’m a small government guy and am against many regulations on private business, but these utility monopolies are a different story.

I tried to go to reliant.com to check my bill status, but it was like the link was totally bogus. Wouldn't even try to take me to the website.

I talked to a Reliant CSR 2 days ago, and he told me that I didn't have anything to worry about as long as I have a contract rate. He said Reliant would honor that rate.

Would you be able to cough up 18k for one month of electricity?

Yes. I wouldn't. But, I could.

I know I am going to get lumped in with "ohh conspiracy", but I find the timing of all this to be very coincidental when Texas is pushing back hard against the Fed.

Jerry Jones' Company Hits 'Jackpot'

quote:

Comstock Resources Inc., a shale driller that operates in Texas and Louisiana, told investors on an earnings call this week that the surge in natural gas prices was providing it with a major — albeit almost certainly temporary — financial boost. The company is publicly traded but Jones holds a majority of the shares.

"Obviously, this week is like hitting the jackpot," President and Chief Financial Officer Roland Burns said Wednesday.

I like Jerry Jones even less now. That's ridiculous.
