I'm sure you'll be happy w/ the Pelican. I traveled once w/ a Pelican case and was pleased w/ it. Have you flown yet?
ETA: If someone's traveling w/ you, I'd suggest giving them a spare key for the locks.

I've traveled with guns, but mainly always hunting shotguns in a big case. I haven't ever where I'm putting a small case inside a larger bag, but will likely try to next time after i get the case.
I just intend to bring a sig p938. I use the crossbreed mini tuck holster, which is an awesome setup in case anyone is in the market. I just wear it directly at my 3 o clock, and can drive/sit a desk at it with no problem and without having to move it. Just make sure you have a ridged belt.
