Veterinarians...can dogs carry strep?

I know there are quite a few vets that post here, hoping I can get an opinion.
My 2 year old, who has many health issues, has been sick, and tested positive for strep throat 5 times in the past 3 months. They believe we have a permanent carrier in the house and mentioned the dogs as a possibility.
My.other daughter and I both were negative last week so it's either my wife or the dogs.
Is this common for dogs to carry human bacteria...or even possible? I've read differing opinions

Sounds like you need to put some masks on your dogs. Trust the science

Why don’t you have the dog(s) cultured to see if they have it? Seems like there’s all kinds of sources to eliminate. You’ve tested you and one kid. Go get
The dog checked out.
Then blame mama

But then why don't you have strep? You are around the dog and momma? I could see one person being immune to it but no way all of the family is immune except for the 2 year old.

Friends wife is a partner at a vet clinic and says none of them have ever heard of a dog transmitting something like this to a human.

while not impossible i would consider it a rare occurrence. You said you and the kid were tested. do you have the exact species of the strep? If you have your vet culture the dog and it comes back as positive for some strep it wont do much good if you cant differentiate is it could be completely different.
Mom is the more likely candidate for the carrier, and more chances of accidentally exposing kid to said bacteria (atleast i assume, dont let your dog prepare your kids food).

I just googled this and TDIL that strep throat can be carried by fish. I wonder if Jimmy Houston ever had problems.
