Man, im praying for you. I left sela 5 yrs ago and landed in mexico beach fl. I was unfortunate enough to have to deal with one like this in 2018. I hate to give this advice, but it may help you if you havent thought of it yet. Pre select another structure to run to during the storm. You dont want the one you're in to come apart and then have to figure out where you are going to. Very few structures will take a 150mph wind for any length of time.

7AM: Current overview of hazards. There's a lot of them, including rising water levels across coastal areas due to storm surge. It will continue to get worse through the rest of the morning and afternoon/tonight.

Ida is literally eating up the entire gulf for herself. This is going to be a brutal buzzsaw. I’d still make a run for it and get out. This is exactly how Hurricane Michael did a couple years ago. Was a wave, then a Cat 5 in about a week, Mexico Beach still hasn’t recovered, and trees 50 miles inland still have a tilt/lean.

I have a friend in New Orleans who literally just left a couple of hours ago. She's on her way to Florida. You still have a chance to get out.

First visible satellite view of Hurricane Ida, with sustained winds of 150 mph. The center is only 50 miles southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Landfall comes later this morning with life threatening storm surge and winds.

In Decatur, AL this weekend. There’s a nonstop stream of utility trucks headed south. A solid line of them from Birmingham to here.

Thoughts and prayers for all y’all down there.
We drove back to ATL yesterday from visiting friends on the eastern shore. Counted over 130 utility trucks southbound on 65 & 85. Keeping all of the impacted area in our prayers.

Have some really good friends that didn't leave. I'm extremely nervous for them. We didn't leave for Ivan in back 04 and I still regret to this day. Good luck out there y'all.

It's too late to leave. I should have gotten out of here at midnight last night. I'm still here, though. Hopefully everything works out. It will be a long day - Good Luck everyone who stayed. Especially the ones in my area - Terrebonne and Lafourche.

Outer bands are hitting Mississippi already. Wind hasn't picked up yet.

I know people have been saying I-10 is clear for anyone wanting to leave, but I'll add that 190 seems to be pretty wide open as well. Very few cars on it here in Opelousas this morning.

If you want to get out and can, options abound right now.

Unfortunately trends on KLIX radar do *not* suggest #Ida is leveling off. Instead the eyewall has become more symmetric w/ the west side becoming more solid.

Earlier attempt at a “moat” around the eyewall also looks to have filled back in.

Assuming the path holds true. You really only need to get to about Slidell LA to be "safe", just stay on high ground.

Hope you're right... because that's where my folks are ATM.

Same. My fiancé, his family and our pets are in Slidell. I had a trip planned this weekend and I’m out of state for however long I end up being out of state. Heart goes out to all the people in Ida’s path. Going to be a long few days.
