So none of you have google maps or Waze? Not trying to be a dick, but that’s way easier to check from anywhere than waiting for responses on a message board that may not be accurate at the time they are posted

ETA Google shows traffic flowing at speed all the way from NOLA to the state line in Tejass

Yes, but it has nothing to do with Ida.

It seems like they nailed everything but the landfall time.

Just seems to so many reading going W or E isn't that easy. Just go N on the 2 lanes. Hell, you'll end up on 20. There are a ton of us up here who will home you if needed.

Your house will probably still be standing, absent a tree falling on it. My main reason to leave would be if you don't want to be without power for a while.

Left BR at 5 this morning, if I didn’t have a huge oak tree hanging over my house I’d have stayed. But zero traffic till near the state line. Don’t care if I sit at the state line for the next 12 hours, at least my family and I won’t be impaled by a tree

What area (if you don't mind sharing that info)?

My folks are in the back of Quail Ridge almost to The Settlement. Their house is on a high spot (14'), but they are reeeeaaaaallllly close to the swamp/river... and so many trees.

This day is going to exhaust me from worrying.
I don’t know Slidell neighborhoods that well. Looking at a map, they are closer to the Slidell Airport more North.

Sending positive energy your way to you and your family. I’m trying to stay calm and realizing there is nothing I can do or change at this point except to keep myself grounded and try to keep my emotions in check. I keep checking the updates and this thread though and it feels so helpless.

#Ida continues to strengthen as aircraft continuously take measurements. Central pressure may now be lower than 930 mb. The sun is rising on a monster, the core of which is now just offshore of SE LA. Oil rigs are now measuring winds above the surface well in excess of 100 mph.

So I guess those intensity models showing this would drop to a cat 2 were bogus.

The center will probably pass 40 miles from New Orleans and the eye wall is about 40 miles wide. So the worst of the storm will be only 20 miles south of New Orleans. Way too close of a cat 5 pass to just wing it with how they ran the New Orleans prep.

The area of no rain was there an hour and a half ago, too.

You can see it looking better on radar as the rain moves out of the radar site

Yeah ok, but you were saying there was rain there, but the radar couldn't see through it. You were wrong.
