re: The most disappointing thing I saw last night…

Sounded pretty loud last night to me.
But standing up on third down is not a good indication of the ability to produce an adequate crowd response.
And I hate those "cheerleaders", especially on the field, who are constantly urging the fans to "get it up.

Smart phones and social media have destroyed the atmosphere, most of the students and soccer moms are on their phone the whole game… the middle age rowdier dudes 20 years ago are now senior citizen age range. The new 18-30 year olds just don’t care, they care about their phones

It is what it is.
TigerStadium is still as good as it gets for a huge matchup and is a special place.
Unfortunately due to TV and our program’s successes and our tailgate culture and some other smaller factors, our fans just don’t get out and frenzied up to full throttle and full capacity unless it’s a huge game. Had we beaten UCLA and gone into the Auburn game ranked in the Top10-ish, you would have had that for Auburn. So it’s just all based on the circumstances and who we’re playing and the magnitude of the game.
It may be a while now, but I guarantee you the next time we have a Top10 matchup in TigerStadium it’ll still have its magic.
None of us want to lose, but honestly a couple year’s of mediocre play the silver lining is our fans will at some point get to enjoy that “ride back up” which we haven’t gotten to experience in a long time and that creates excitement and energy

You are the dumbest poster on this board and that is saying a lot. Selling beer isn’t the problem. A drunk Tiger fan is louder than a cicada. FACT.

The atmosphere for the first quarter and a half was fine. After that the team didn’t give us anything to cheer about.

You were completely right until the beer thing. If anything it helps the true fans that stay keep the buzz going. LSU football is in major trouble

Dude. Where have you been the last fricking year and a half? Be thankful there were people THERE!

If you leave early and can’t get up for a 4th quarter 2 point lead against Auburn, you’re not a fan.
I'm so glad I was there in the glory days of the old Tiger Stadium. (And it wasn't that long ago)
This LSUAD sponsored shite shoe is gross and disgusting.
The atmosphere in PIMger matches the current state of the football program.

Over the last few years I've been in college football stadiums, NFL and MLB stadiums and NBA arenas, and it's all the same:
The product on the field (and court) has to be compelling for people to pay attention, and when they pay attention they stand and cheer. Plain and simple.
This team gave us little to nothing to stand and cheer about Saturday night. Losing does that to people.
In other stadiums, when the product isn't commanding their attention, fans are always on their phones. They're thumbing through Instagram or something or taking selfies. My god, how many selfies do you need to take?
There's a lot of artificial noise in stadiums these days. The music is turned up to 11. The video boards are forever busy. No one can hear the band, unless there miraculously isn't some announcement being made or video commercial being run.
Game presentation is horrendous. (Though it's like that at a lot of places). And when the product on the field isn't distracting the fans (and especially the students) from their cell phones, it's just a disinterested mess.

Well, we’d have to get back to where we were in the years leading up to those 2003 and 2007 games. It just may be that we are in the beginning of a dark period for LSU football.

You’re right about that.
When the stadium reeked of bourbon instead, everyone was sober yelling.
Damn drunks are ruining the atmosphere.
How stupid are you?

Such a refreshing take I’m glad you started a thread about it.
I’m excited for the potential in this thread as it’s such a new topic!

Covid and the fricking stupid Governor have hindered the fan excitement. Especially when you are inconvenienced for a shitty product. If players or coaches would exhibit "care" or competence, fans would respond appropriately. People showed and were excited in Pasadena, only to be sorely disappointed.

[quote]Weren't those games in the day time? There's a big difference in the energy level of a person at two thirty in the afternoon as opposed to freaking eight o'clock at night[/quote
2007 UF was a night game, genius! We have has plenty of late kicks in Tiger stadium with capacity crowds that were engaged and loud. You apparently aren’t very familiar with LSU if you can’t even remember 07. Whether people want to admit it or not, the truth is it’s not even close to the atmosphere it was even two years ago and even two years ago fell short of 10 years prior to that and you definitely can’t blame the product. The kids these days are just soft, period.
