New Iberia is a shite hole today. In the 1950s there was no crime. No one locked their doors at night. Most people left their keys in the car ignition because no one stole cars.
There was no shoplifting so no such thing as items requiring a locked showcase.
An unmarried girl who got pregnant was an outcast. Sent away to visit an Aunt in a neighboring state.
If you had a HS diploma you could read, write and do math at a 12th grade level.
We were taught to be proud of America instead of being taught to hate America.

And in 'the old days' comedians were actually funny and people laughed. Today they say 'Donald Trump is stupid' and people go 'woo-woo!'

There is nothing wrong with hankering for the good old days. Kids weren't glued to a smart phone and ipad.

We may be getting into a depression that makes the food lines of old look like Heaven.
