In 2005, Pelini was hired by LSU Tigers Head Coach Les Miles, again as defensive coordinator. His success continued, as LSU was ranked 3rd nationally in overall defense for each of his three years with the Tigers. At the conclusion of the 2007 regular season, the LSU Tigers defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 21–14 in the 2007 SEC Championship Game and went on to win 38–24 against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pelini's alma mater, in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game.[6][7]

There were many questions on Pelini returning after not coaching a defense in a division 1 school in over a decade. Many asked why are we hiring this guy when there are many top defensive guys available? Hindsight none of those guys wanted to work for ed it seems. The number one question with pelini when he was hired would he know how to coach against the spread? well we all got our answer. No!The most frustrating part about him being let go was the money he was given and the buyout. He should have never been given 2 million plus per year.

Turns out ED O was only as good as his assistants. That's a big problem considering he couldnt actually recruit many good ones and when he did he actually wasnt a handoff off type of coach.

At this point if I were Peetz I’d say F you and call my own game. It’s a good time for him to get the experience.

IF the idiot KNEW HOW to call a game! Peetz a big putz!

From what I have been told he was back to micro management practices especially with the defense.

Can you imagine micromanaging THIS defense?

They're a base 4-3 with zero blitzing, stunts, different looks for the QB, combination coverages or anything but straight vanilla. If he's micromanaging that, Jesus.

No established coordinator would ever come work for an idiot like Orgeron who has history of interfering with them So we are left with rejects and guys getting there first coordinator gig Such a great strategy for a guy who was hired cheap to be able to buy the best coordinators out there

Orgeron’s biggest mistake of all was running off Dave Aranda. It was the deathknell of his coaching tenure at LSU. He never recovered.

If he’d have just kept Ensminger and Aranda and only tinkered with wonderboy assistants to the coordinators - like a Brady - he’d still be solidly entrenched as LSU coach and probably about to play for an SEC West title next week.

Prove them wrong then. What proven coordinators were willing to work for Ed?
