After another dominating performance, LSU faces another decent test on Friday. Penn State comes in at 3-1 with a blowout loss to UMass. Their other 3 wins have been against weak schools, but they have looked decent this season.

Players To Watch

G SR Sam Sessoms 6'0 189 - Transferred last season from Binghamton. Volume shooter at Bing and scored lots of point. Last year played a key role for PSU but took less shots. This year, he's averaging 19ppg on 58% FG%. Also averages 4rpg, 3apg. He's shooting an absurd 68% from 3, but only averages 3 per game.

F JR Seth Lundy 6'6 217 - Started a good bit over the last 2 seasons and is a key member this season. Averages 17.8ppg, 5.8rpg, while shooting 57% from 3. Unlike Seasoms, Lundy averages 5 3-point attempts per game. Half of his shots have come from 3 point land so it's no secret what he prefers to do.

F SR John Harrar 6'9 240 - 5th year senior who has played LOTS of ball for PSU. Averages 9 and 9 last season. This season, averaging 11.3ppg, 12.8rpg. He is not even remotely a threat from the outside so LSU does not have to extend at all for him.

G SR Jalen Pickett 6'4 200 - Transfer from Siena. double digit scorer for 3 years at Sienna. Averaging 8.8ppg with 4.5apg. He's much more of a PG than Sessoms. Was a capable 3-point shooter at Siena but has been horrendous this season. Still able to score though.

F SR Jelani White 6'8 205 - Another 5th year senior and another transfer. Was never really a big factor at Canisius and this year provides some height but little else. Averaging 6.3ppg and 5.0rpg. Not much of an outside threat at all.

G SR Jaheam Cornwall 6'0 190 - Just another 5th year senior transfer from Gardner Webb. At GW, he scored pretty well averaging double figures from 2 years. He starts for PSU but is only averaging 3.8ppg. However, he is shooting just horrific from the floor and that will change.

Breakdown

Just by looking at their players, Penn State lacks size majorly. Even outside of their bigs, their guards are also on the smaller side overall. The one thing they have going for them is that they are insanely experienced. Doubt LSU plays a team with more Seniors and more 5th year Senior transfers.

As a team, PSU is about as average to below average as possible. They average as many turnovers as assists. They are middle of the road rebounding. They are middle of the road on offense. They are middle of the road on defense. There's nothing that sticks out about them.

Prediction

Maybe I'm being harsh about Penn State. Maybe I think too highly of LSU. I just know we have so much more length and overall talent than them. Add in our relentless D, I just can't see this being much of a game. The only way PSU keeps this close is if LSU has a post-Thanksgiving sleepwalk.

LSU 85
PSU 66

Look forward to these before every game. Thanks. I also think the Tigers take this won with ease.

I don’t want Penn State to score above 60. Keep the streak alive.

I don’t see Penn State being the team to break 60 against us unless they just get really hot from outside. They got killed by a bad UMass team and play like a prime Johnny-Ball LSU squad. We should obliterate them. Just gotta play focused and it should be an easy W.

Only thing I'm worried about is it being the first game playing away from home. Might be a tough 20-25 minutes but think our defense should wear these guys down like all the other opponents.

At some point LSU is going to sleepwalk a game. I think if LSU plays an A game we can legit humiliate them. However, it’s a weird week, you got some young guys away for thanksgiving. I could see it being semi-ugly. With another game soon after, we may try to conserve energy, sub guys early, etc etc

Why even bring up Johnny Jones in this conversation? Let it go.

LSU will cover the line for the 6th game in a row. I do expect the game to be much tighter against Wake Forest.
