BR doesnt have the best Tex-Mex scene, but the new Los Reyes has really good the few times i have been since opening. I would go to the Las Palmas location on coursey when i worked over there, and when they switched to Los Reyes i though it went down hill but got better after a while.

But the new location has been solid and very reasonable pricing.

It is in a doomed location, as every thing there has failed, but i hope it stays a round.

The Los Reyes on Coursey is solid Tex-Mex. They even have some unique items with Mediterranean influence. Nice inside, nice patio. If the new one is similar, it deserves survival.

I only have been once for lunch but found it very good. I got the lunch mexican pizza which was huge (could only eat half) and my dad got the combo which was a taco, enchilada and tamale. I tried his tamale and enchilada and both were very good. Hope this place can make it.

no value of superior knocks it down. Dont get me wrong, im not a Superior hater like some retards here... i love superior.. but it doesnt have a lot of value, you pay for the name.

And thats straight up against what Tex Mex is...Tex Mex is supposed to be cheap.

Tio Javi's
No thank you... been many times... the name change to Tio Javis did not change the trajectory of the downfall of Ninfas.

Mestizo
it isnt bad.... a little upscale to be in the "TexMex" category. more like mexican fusion.

Hell i think Modestos is fantastic! but its too expensive for what it is.

Los Reyes on Coursey is my favorite Tex-Amex in BR and was excited when they opened the location on Lee. I went right after they opened and it did not disappoint. The only difference I found is their happy hour which is a tad bit different than the original. I’ll definitely go back since it’s close to where I live.

For me it has always been El Rio Grande on Airline. Sadly the last time I went is was salted as all get out. Maybe just a bad day. I'll give them another shot, and maybe this place too.

lol. I remember when I moved to BR, I started a thread on the it way prior to the plethora of boards....this was 2006ish. A lot of people recommended el rio grande so I went.....their salsa was freaking pace pincate sauce.

No, just no, and I say that as one that has been there aplenty.

El Rio does decent fried chimichangas, tamales, relenos, and decent greasy basic peasant staple fare. The table salsa as mentioned in next post is bad Pace grade crap, the tacos meh, etc..cheap ingredients used.

El Rio is a poor knockoff of his brother Carlos fare right up the street forty years ago, that was executed at a higher level. El Rio's nephew Jim Urdiales has better fare, and is more elevated. And yet even his Mestizos only rates well because of BR's weak Mexican market.

I haven't been to the new Los Reyes. I've been to the coursey location several times. It is pretty good tex mex but their prices have definitely gone up over the past year or so.

For the same price, you can go to Blue Corn and get better food and drinks.

Yeah idk what’s funny about that. It should be fairly cheap.

i dont agree at all.

ETA: and i just looked at blue corn's menu(Los Reyes doesnt have pricing online) but I i went to Los reyes got one of the more expensive combination plates last time at its 18 bucks +2 for steak. It had a taco, enchilada, and a huge steak Chimichanga. I eat it for 2 meals. Blue corns pulled pork sandwich is 20.75. And why do they consider that Tex-Mex? Their quesadillas are 20 bucks.

So no, it doesnt look like the pricing is the same.
