Your're going to a chain steak house. Your choices: Longhorn, Outback, or TX Roadhouse

Which are you choosing and what are you ordering?

My son has never had a filet mignon (because I almost never cook them) and I told him to choose a restaurant and I'd take him for one after the semester is over. He's down to one of those three, as the prices at the local prime steakhouse scared him (after I pointed them out to him).

I used to prefer Texas Roadhouse over those other two.

Had a TX Roadhouse next to a hotel I was staying in recently. It was surprisingly good. I had the boneless strip steak.

Outback. Start with Coconut Shrimp for the App. Alice Springs Chicken with a Sweet Potato for an entree. Highly underrated.

Outback really depends on the location, some are poorly run and quality suffers.

Since they are chains the quality varies depending on who is actually managing the restaurant

I’ve been to a decent longhorn once and I’ve been to a bad one. Outback/Roadhouse same thing.

I guess what I’m saying is these three restaurants are all the same it’s dependent on management to get to their “ceiling”

Pick the one that looks the cleanest I guess

Cook that kid a steak at home!

Whole Foods and surprisingly Sam's are great places to get quality filets.

I've always been pretty happy with what I've gotten at Longhorn...usually NY strip.

I still say to take him to one of the local better places...

I had a rare filet at Texas Roadhouse in Orlando and spent the next day either laying on the bathroom floor or sitting on the toilet.

Im partial to outback but all those are pretty solid. Longhorn circa late 90s when you could throw the peanut shells on the floor was next level.

That would be an odd order for someone who requested their first ever filet mignon

Went to Longhorn twice, about 10 years ago. It was not good both times and we never went back. Last year in laws wanted to go. I was damn surprised b/c it was nothing like the first two times I had been there. Menu and everything was different. Everyone enjoyed it for what it is. We would go to Texas Roadhouse on occasion and it's worth the money, but not the wait. I can't believe that Longhorn is back in the twice a year rotation. Outback, never, may as well go to Applebee's.

Texas Roadhouse, but for transparency I never get the filet. They are my goto for their NY Strip and honestly I'll take it there eover somewhere like Ruth Chris.
