My oldest is playing it. It's combining the survival aspects of ARK with the monster catching aspects of Pokemon (and the monsters can use rocket launchers, machine guns, etc, but my kid hasn't gotten to that piece yet). She just upgraded a fire "pal" to be carried around and used as a flamethrower.

It's on Steam and Game Pass and has apparently hit 815,000 concurrent users on Steam this weekend and over 2 million sales.

Here's a Forbes article about it.

ETA: Updated subject because it looks like everyone is playing Palworld.

One of my steam friends is and I was about to look at some videos of it. Dude says despite being early access, it runs smooth and is very fun. In group chat they are saying that it is pokemon with guns mixed with valheim.

Never played valheim but that comparison was made in one of the articles I linked.

My kid has had one crash but was able to load back in to exactly the same spot and lost nothing.

I ended up grabbing it tonight to run with a few steam friends. Was fun with a group and could see it still being nice solo.

For me it was like mixing Medieval Dynasty with Breath of the Wild and Pokemon.

Game has now sold over 4 million copies in about 3 days.

ETA: The combat is much more entertaining to watch than Pokemon. Your pals fight alongside you in battle instead of you throwing them out to fight one on one.

I was apprehensive about it, because I didn't like Craftopia (which is what this was compared to by friends). I've had a very good time with it though. Me and friend went through a full dungeon and the pal traits give good reason to catch more of them.

Started it yesterday and had a lot of fun.

It’s Pokémon with Guns + Valheim survival/building + the movement/freedom of BotW (climb anything, glider stamina drain, etc)

All it is missing is Valheim’s smooth jazz soundtrack playing in the meadows. I played yesterday and had more fun than I was expecting. Captured a level 11 boss near the first tower but only got the tower boss to 50% before I died and went to bed

its easily the buggiest game ive played in a long time.
fast travel and respawns have spawned me underneath the map, stuck in a building having to quit the game and restart to get back in.
enemies doing similar things, once a boss just disappeared while i was about to catch it.
sound is fubar

but its pretty fun/addicting

It is buggy. Fighting is fun. Seems very in depth. I like the details of each pal and the abilities so they can work the base

Dang man I guess we've been lucky. We have had one crash but been pretty bug-free otherwise.

This game is now second to only PUBG (before going f2p) for most concurrent players on Steam for a paid title.

Are you on gamepass? Microsoft hasn't "approved" the update yet that the steam version is running.

I downloaded this over the weekend and had waaaay more fun than I thought I would. I'll probably dive back in tonight after work.
