Throwing Kratos Axe in God of War. So satisfying

Mimir's stories while rowing the boat were great. They could make a great audiobook as a collection of short stories, using the same voice actor of course.

manuals that actually played into and added to the story.

But most of that was disguised copy protection. The nice lady at the disk copy store was happy to hand me photocopies of manuals, which was what led to code wheels, text printed that needed a red lens to read, etc.

Majula is the best Souls hub (fight me)

That’s not an unpopular opinion in the Souls community. In fact, I think it’s the majority opinion. Now, DkS1 Firelink gets discussed in the same breath, but that’s more because all roads seemed to lead back to Firelink, which was incredible and something Majula (and all of DkS2) lacked. But the hub itself? Majula is great.

If only we had Andre instead of that prick Lenigrast

I'm sure I spent more time playing Gwent than I did playing the actual story and DLC.

is is probably weird, but I like games where you can pet animals. In Far Cry 5, you can pet all friendly animals and in Cyberpunk, you can pet stray cats.

Like I said, it's probably weird, but I always feel compelled to stop and pet friendly animals.

It's a really quick animation, but the way Geralt uses his left hand to tip his scabbards forward when he sheaths his sword in Witcher 3.

When I first started playing destiny, having been out of gaming since about 2005, and I noticed that enemies could tell when you were aiming a sniper rifle at them and would go for cover and stay there. I remember being totally mind blown by that. The enemies had actual intelligence.

The interactive VOs between characters in BG3. Much like the random interactives in Marvel Heroes, it gave the game more of a feeling of truly being alive. Deadpool's "More like The Scarlet Bi-heeeeeey Wanda" made me giggle every time.

I'm really digging the raindrops on the screen when in 3rd person view in Helldivers 2. Not only does it (and the dirt effect from some explosions) look to be done extremely well, it adds a bit more realism.

hear repeated ambient dialogue

Dr. Davis, telephone please, Dr. Davis telephone please.

Not from a video game, but how many thousands of times I've heard that in a movie, or a CD (Queensryche, you did this to me) is maddening. You could pay a rando nurse in Montana $200 for a different version, but nobody does.

My favorite little thing is probably running into crazy people/ghouls in Fallout. The dialogue is just so, "really?" You're motivated by what again? Why? Ok, I'm on it. I do tend to read dialogue rather than listen to it, unless it's something like State of Decay 2 where I need to hear attack cues.

In a similar vein, especially in an RPG, do not give cues that are audible and not on screen/text. I find it hard to believe that in the "accessible" world we live in, that there aren't multi-modal indicators in RPGs. I got flamed by this repeatedly in ESO, because I never heard cues "get in the shield," before getting smoked by bosses. Subtitles on, but I never knew what was happening until I looked it up.
