I really think we should stop comparing Historic City Park Golf Course to Audubon Park. When I lived in NOLA in the 70s and 80s, it was much worse than City Park ever was. City Park can be truly great. Let's work to make it that way. Respond to BREC's "Imagine Your Parks" survey on their web site and make your views known.

I agree man. Got a link for us to go to?

It has to have something to do with the location of the green. Right next to those ugly thick trees. It almost sits in a bowl with water next to it. I cant imagine it gets much sunlight.

I have no clue what I am talking about btw

I do agree that this course has a ton of potential. Just having average greens would make this course great.

I would have to believe if BREC is going to level up a course next it would be Webb. Its a course with country club bones and great classic layout. Problem is with the play it gets, the current tees and greens will always be a game of catch up. The need to put some money into a little redesign/tee expansion/resurfacing. Make it full time COP or walking. Maybe use the full clubhouse and not just the pro shop. If you did it right, you could pull 50-60 a round. Highland in Bham, Muni in Charleston and Bobby Jones in ATL have done similar things and are thriving golf courses.

If they rented out the restaurant space, it could be a cool spot to hang

The place has potential for sure. There are people who really want to shut the course down and turn it into a regular park too(Rolfe McCollister).

I’d like to see a little expanded practice area like Webb has now if possible. Seems like the greens could be fixed easily.

Close the front nine down and do a a serious upgrade, and then repeat that on the back nine. Bigger greens, bigger tee boxes so you can spread things out better when play resumes.

Close Webb down everyTuesday for routine maintenance. Spread tee times out an extra 2 minutes.

Raise the green fees an appropriate amount.

The course is far more than a "nice a piece of land." It is an historic course authored by a legendary designer, where generations of golfers have learned to enjoy the game. The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of play at City Park.

Bumping this to say I played City Park on Saturday. All the greens are in really good shape right now, with the exception of 7. The grass on it is actually fine, but the green was just rebuilt poorly, so there are bumps in it.

Still wish all the greens were bigger like Clark, but the greens were rolling nice.
