Wesley Bryan finished his 2nd round at Corales at -15 and holds the solo lead. Shot -9 yesterday and finished today eagle, birdie, birdie to shoot a 66.

How wild would it be for him to earn a 2 year exemption this week.

I was kinda surprised he and George didn’t get an exemption into the zurich, but if he wins this week maybe they’ll play.

Say they do get into the Zurich. If they put a camera on the bag and record the round and do a voice over later. Does the PGA have the final say if they can broadcast that? Is that the type of stuff that the players are complaining about? Independent contractor but not really independent?

The PGA won't let any of the youtube guys even put pro ams of the PGA golfers playing online. Not a chance they let the Bryan Bros do anything like that

It's a damn shame that we can't get more content like that. I would think it'd be pretty popular

They are doing that for the other South Carolina tournament this year. They had that one qualifier solely for YouTube purposes.

Grant did the Farm Bureau? pro am earlier this year and they could record just can't show the PGA player shots.

George's Q school was all from the ropes basically.

Correct. They cant even record wesley's swing (or any PGA player) without approval from the PGA. That is why in the ProAMs, the youtubers rarely get to record the pro they are with. Where as on DP World Tour, they can show everything from their ProAM.

yes, they have not had much issues getting the OK to record Wesley. I dont know if there is a hard cutoff somewhere but you wont find any vids of the top50 or so on a PGA course, even from proam.

Why was Horschel playing there? Surely he had status at the RBC?

Horschel finished 90th in the FedEx last year. He didn't qualify for the signature event and wasn't selected as a sponsor's exemption.

I noticed they allowed footage of Wesley swinging too. I'd be kind of interested in the justification in why they're allowed to but, just a few weeks ago, Micah (and I believe Grant) played a pro-am with Jason Day and they mentioned in the intro that they weren't allowed to share any footage of Jason's shots. They could film everything else like the convos, etc. with Jason on the course but none of his swings.

This seems so dumb. Not being able to show somebody's swing?

Yeah, dumb.

Love or hate Phil, this is one of the big things he was complaining about. How could PGA claim you are an independent contractor AND claim media rights to "your swing." Proams aren't even televised. It would be a great way for PGA tour guys to build online content and grow their fanbases.

I think there is a balance to be had here, but, to play devil's advocate, why should the PGA Tour allow golfers to profit off of an event that the tour pays all of the costs? Hopefully, the tour is weighing the benefits of individual golfers building their brands to aid in television viewership vs these costs.

The Tour isn't paying the costs of the pro am tournaments. They just want to be paid for a 3rd party to use the NIL rights of Tour players.

I understand not wanting players to vlog the actual tournament, but not letting Good Good, Grant Horvath, etc. film content during a pro am is idiotic.

You mean like let the golfers record whatever they want when there are no TV cameras on?
