I think that I know where they are coming in. I set a live trap complete with boards to funnel them into the trap but it didn’t catch them. I don’t know how they got around it. I am in Zachary which is EBR parish. I am told that it is not legal to use a pellet gun to kill them. I have used red pepper in the yard. I think they must like it. I am truly at wits end. HELP!

Metal trap?

I built a wooden trap because they were getting out of the Havahart. Caught one in two days. Took some trial and error to get the trigger to work right.

When I lived in subdivision I used the CCI Quiet .22 Bullets.Quieter than my Beeman air rifle.
Now that I live in the country I have a cellular game camera that sends a picture to my phone.Only problem is sometimes I don’t hear the “ding” alert on my phone at 3-4:00 am.
Also have a .22 with a laser,fun as hell.I’ve killed 19 this summer.

I had a weird experience with 1.Never had an armadillo notice when I shined light on him until this year.I had 1 that as soon as the light hit him he hauled arse, took me 1/2 dozen tries until I finally got him.
I hope they’re not evolving to be able to see a light.

Have you tried lead at a high rate of speed?

They make low velocity .22 shells that sound about like someone clapping.

I’ve skewered 2 with a pitch fork so far. Only problem is having to wait up until they come out.

They're digging, I'm guessing? Get rid of what they are digging for.....likely some type of grub. Armadillos, skunks, etc. can be an early warning that you have grub troubles. If they show up and dig, then keep coming back they are finding something to eat. Thanks to them, you now know you have a grub problem. If they hang around, you won't have a grub problem. Of course, you may view the armadillo problem as worse.

Insecticide! Kill the food source.

…Or just shoot’em!

Something else to try is get rid of the grubs/worms in your lawn and they will find another place to forage.
