I appreciate your optimism but the last 48 hours of rumors and news have been pretty disappointing

The recruits.lsu (or whatever it’s called) Instagram page reported that CJ West is no longer visiting. So that in addition to Miami being confident in landing Barrow and the Texas smoke vis a vis the TCU kid. frick.

We were really high on getting Barrow for that first visit and expecting him to shut it down but then his team mate enters the portal and both are set to visit Miami.

Now we find out that CJ West apparently doesn't have the grades?

Why don’t we bring in his buddy too? Can’t hurt

As our luck would have it he entered while Barrow was visiting. I don't know why LSU's name hasn't been mentioned for her services it was Tennessee, Oregon and someone else I think

Lol things are going to change on the DL with the current staff. Y’all keep doubting this thing is real. Bo Davis is equivalent to Kim Mulkey at their positions. Every single place he’s been, his DL stood out and dominated. He’s going to demand great play and he will get the players he needs to put a good rotation out there. That’s simply this year. In 3 to 4 years, this things going to look like the old school LSU Defense!! No doubts in my mind. Can’t wait!

Feelings don't last long. I get them dropping the kids off at the pool.

Hopefully these feelings you are experiencing are deeply felt and lasting...

This is how I feel. I live in Ann Arbor and during the playoffs some of the attorneys in my firm were talking about Texas and specifically mentioned Bo Davis and what an elite DL coach he is. Yeah, I know, they're just lawyers in Michigan but these were statements that big-time college football fans were making when LSU was not even in the conversation about the guy who is now our DL coach. Thought I'd share for those a little concerned right now. We have a really good guy coaching DL.

I said this the other day to people like Draco Malfoy who are panicking about the DL. Bo will have that group serviceable this season, even without all of the ingredients he needs. He's just too good of a coach and has the track record to back it up. Bama had a DT pipeline to the NFL when he was there. The Texas duo this year were both lower ranked guys coming out of high school that will now be high draft picks. Everyone needs to relax and realize we're in great hands.

We need some good news on the DT front.

On a side note, another area of need is a CB1

Jayvion Cole

Honestly, do we need game changers?

I personally would love a game changer or two.

And I am also assuming that there were one or two in the Jan portal.

Of course. So would I, but it's not necessary for us to win games. We just need the DT position to not be a glaring weakness that effects the rest of the defense. We at least need a starter quality transfer and 1-2 solid rotational guys for depth. For now that's all we can hope for and then Bo can start bringing in elite talent in the next recruiting cycles.

Breaux, Jackson, Johnson, McKinley, Reliford and Washington have potential to be outstanding. I think we signed an excellent class of defensive linemen. We shall see.

Doesn’t the type of DT we take depend on the style of defense Baker runs? Does he want DT’s that eat upblocks and are gap sound so LB’s clog the hole and make the plays in the run game and pass rush? Or does he want DT’s that can play in the backfield and make the plays at and behind the line. What kind of defense did he run at Missouri? I really don’t know except whatever it was they were pretty good at it.

You need both. Baker let's his d line get up the field and cause havoc. His defense is almost the opposite of house's defense
