Speaking from being an experienced lsu fan, the thing I think most of us are tired of is losing 5 star players who we should have closed on. We've just been stung for some many years by players like Joe McKnight,Landon Collins,Davonta Smith and out of state players like Jordan Burch,Desmond Ricks and now Colin Simmons. We've always recruited constantly in the top 10 and occasionally the type 5 area. It's the Alabama,UGA,Ohio state and Clemson who always seem to take thier recruiting to the next level and get out of state elite recruits no matter what. We do very good recruiting finding a lot diamonds in the rough type players like J.Jets and the honeybadger. If we can some how become a top 3 to 5 program recruiting consistently that's when LSU will become a consistent juggernaut. Now with NIL teams like Texas,A&M,USC who haven't done anything in the past decade are starting to catch up. We got to put ourselves in the top tier if we want to become a national domnating recruiting team.

Facts. Yet some will still find a way to disagree

LSU is really competitive in the NIL space. Yall might not have been the highest bidder but yall don’t get Perkins without ponying up a good amount for him still. Its not like he took some steep discount to play for LSU.

Ok but NO ONE is going to be able to hold onto guys like they used to so I’m not sure how much it matters at the end of a cycle. The current form of NIL is not sustainable and there will be regulation. It’s inevitable. In the NFL, LSU is represented as well, if not better, than all of the teams you mentioned. We have stars all over the league. There are no 5 stars better than those “diamonds in the rough you mentioned”. It’s just recruiting perception and it’s overblown. I’d love to get everybody but recruiting titles do not equal a natty. LSU wins championships. That is a fact. Not everyone else can say that no matter how much money they spend. If it were that simple everyone would do it.

He’s got NOLA ties. That’s different. Of course LSU paid. Once you get your arse whipped in the SEC recruits won’t think the same. This isn’t the Big 12. You’re hoping to win the Big 12 to spring board into 2024. Imagine if you frick around this year and they see what Sark really is.

He isnt accepting any NIL until he wins the starting job. At least this is according g to the Manning family. Just saying. They have been pretty open about it. Apologies if I missed some context.

Go back and look at lsu last 10 years of recruiting lsu is not occasionally in the top 5 its per 247 since 2014- lsu is 2-5-2 7-14-5-4-3-12-6 and in 2023 newer on3 has lsu at 5th and rivals to. Thats 6 at least and 7 top 5 classes if counting on3 and rivals lsu 23 ranking!! Out of last 10 classes!! So dont give me that lsu occasionally in the top 5 bs. Also compare clemsons classes since 2014 til now they and it shocked me to have been occasionally in the top 5 since then, but they have done a great job with less tho??

You can use more than just NIL to land a recruit. Like job opportunities.

Technically Joe Biden didn’t receive any money from foreign countries. His son did that for him.

It makes sense because NIL is public and they don’t want that pressure on him. But you’re a fool if you think he went there without getting something.

it's the recruiting board and it's august. there are no other sports going on. recruiting is a bid deal. this is a message board. it's a place for people to vent.

nobody is really freaking out. -- well mostly nobody.

there were lots of big players we missed on. Speedy Noil and Soph were probably two of the biggest on paper.

it's what the recruiting board is for. you "melting" over people "melting" (see how that works?) just adds extra melt.

only time will tell how good this recruiting class will be. 99% of posters are aware of this.

regardless, everyone wants to land the high profile guys. but nobody is going to melt if Simmons goes to UT.

so was John David Booty.

Ryan Perrilloux committed to Texas first. Jai Eugene committed to Michigan. We wound up getting both and neither met expectations.

But recruiting still holds great interest. Getting disappointed over losing a high profile guy in August isn't going to change the state of football.
