Seems like a decent backup plan if the other offers don’t work out

Off topic a bit, but the P5 and G5 should have seperate all-americans. Totally selfish reason, so that I will know which ones are really good when they hot the transfer portal.

Is his listed weight/height real? Seems small for the SEC. Looking at his PFF stats per game his worst games were against the best competition in Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Game vs A&M - 4 ast. tackles was 1st game of his red-shirt Fr. yr.

Game vs Ole Miss - 2 solos + 1 sack last yr.

Yeah since great NFL-caliber players never come from the G5……oh wait, they do all the time.

Go after him. Already in Louisiana. Don't play around LSU. No need to overthink this.

Need to be in completely separate leagues and the G5 does not deserve and auto-bid to the CFB PO.

This isn’t *necessarily* the case with respect to ole Miss. He had a sack against them. His total tackles weren’t eye popping in that game, but total tackles is a pretty iffy way of evaluating IDL play (and also can be significantly affected by the opposing teams scheme). Sacks aren’t perfect either, of course, but as a general rule I’d rather have a DT with higher sack and TFL totals and lower tackle totals than the opposite.

The A&M game looks rough though.

Worth noting that, looking at his game log, he seems to have REALLY come on down the stretch. In his final 7g last season he totaled 8 sacks and 15TFL. There’s obviously some translation that you’ve gotta do, but that’s big-time production. He may have been playing relatively weak competition but at least you can say that he was legitimately dominant. We’ll see, I guess.

ETA 2 things:
(1) 280lbs is obviously on the smaller side for an SEC DT, but it's not prohibitively small by any stretch of the imagination. Aaron donald was listed at 280 or 285 in the NFL and claims to have played even lighter than that. For guys who play that 3-technique role--which Adin Huntington does--it's very common to see guys in that 280-295 range. Just in the past 3 draft classes, here are some notable DTs:
Calijah Kancey (1st rd, 281),
Darius Robinson (1st rd, 285),
Byron Murphy (1st rd, 297),
Bryan Bresee (1st, 298),
Keion White (2nd rd, 284),
Michael Hall (2nd rd, 290),
Braden Fiske (2nd rd, 292),
Ruke Orhorhoro (2nd rd, 294),
Zacch Pickens (3rd rd, 291),
Kobe Turner (3rd rd, 293),
DeMarvin Leal (3rd rd, 283)
So give this guy an offseason in a major power 5 nutrition and weight program and he'll fit right in, at least from a size perspective.
(2) I keep seeing that he has posted a 38" vert at 280. If that is an accurate figure, then he has elite elite explosiveness - that's legitimate power-5 (and NFL) athleticism. No clue if he'll actually be good, but if he really jumped 38" at 280, we should be all over him.

Someone posted his grades per game this is them

They look pretty good overall. It seems that in the higher competition his grade went down in run defense and that probably is partially due to his size limitations against the bigger SEC athletes. Just speculating though. His PFF overall is extremely good even if it's lower competition.

We need to get this guy locked up ASAP all things considered. At the very least he's a depth player that could give us some snaps.
