I know you never turn down talent but everything I’ve read about this kid screams another Denver Harris situation. I’d pass.

I don't care either way, but if I were in the portal and looking for $$$ to be broken off, yea, I'd float that DBU has called.

Hold on a second, I was specifically told by some guy on here that the "premium board mods" said we weren't pursuing him.

And it doesn't go higher than premium board mods.

Just like those old football recruiting interest letters, I’m sure nearly every P5 transfer is “contacted” by LSU in some way.

We have people whose entire job is scouting and identifying transfer candidates, part of that process is gauging their price of the market, even if the staff is ultimately not interested

Not saying you’re wrong, or everything they say is right; but both things can be true. We might not be pursuing him but we may have reached out when he initially entered and decided he was not worth pursuing any further.

I am 100% mocking the thought that 1. there's something here considered "premium mods" and 2. thinking they have actual insider info

And still no mention of LSU contact by anyone other than the kid and whoever this Pete Nakos character ON3 has trumped up is. Yet every DT we've been reported in contact with has had something written about them or set up a visit already. Seems someone's lying or a phone call is as far as it went. Regardless, nothing to see here ATM.
If the insiders are being coy or are wrong, well it wouldn't be the first time. It's the life of a career dealing with 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand information, and the whims of teenage boys. Even the parents lie. Ask DK Moores mom how that OSU visit came about when LSU couldn't be made due to a 7 on 7 tourney last weekend.

Reaching out and being truly interested are two different things.

Personally I think we can take chances on guys like this now under year three of CBK. 1-2 players aren’t going to affect the locker room

I'm not saying to recruit or not recruit him. I will say I have read nothing that puts him in the Denver Harris category. DH was suspended I believe on two different occasions in 1 year at A&M. CM has not been suspended at Colorado by "Coach Prime". The main knock against him seems he hasn't been motivated/been willing to work hard enough.

Yeah. LSU contacted him to make sure he knows that LSU is no place for him and to stop trying to get in through other people

The connection I was making between Harris and this kid is the attitude of not wanting to put in the work, seeming to have that entitlement issue because he has talent. Well talent will get you through high school but the SEC will eat you up and spit your butt back out without coachability and want to. He has to want to be great and live up to the 5 star billing he was given

NIL has created this cesspool of teenagers holding out their hand, getting millions, thinking they do not have to do shite and are set up for life.
It either needs to be a professional farm program and shut down this "amateur" crap or have some reasonable cap/restrictions. It cannot continue on the current path. It has become nothing bribes and pay to play. Never heard of 99% of these kids so their Name, Like and Image is in reality, ZERO.

"McClain hasn’t been seen practicing this spring," Shapiro prefaced before saying, "There have been rumors flying about him portaling for a long time. He should have plenty of suitors, though his grades are part of the reason he hasn’t been on the field and that may limit his transfer options."
quote:

"Study and prepare," Sanders told reporters when asked what McClain can improve on to see the field (h/t Bleacher Report). "Be on time for meetings, show up to meetings. Understand the scheme. I check film time from each player so I can see who's preparing, so if I don't see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there who's not prepared. That goes for all our players."

He’s never been dismissed from a team/school so how’s he anything like Denver Harris?

Discipline vs work ethic are totally different

Harris was very much the same when he came to LSU, late, grades, not practicing well, lack of effort, sent away several times from the team. Being a disciplined player and having a good work effort are one in the same

Odds are he won't be at LSU. If Sanders, a CB himself, turned him loose, then he's pretty messed up. Just $$$$$ no school effort and seemingly entitled.
