Can we all take a minute to laugh at Dabo Swinney one more time?

Dalvin Cook > Fournette?

quote:

"It's like comparing Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota," Swinney said. "They're both really good, but if you can only pick one, I'm taking Dalvin Cook. They're both phenomenal players, and I've seen [Fournette] a good bit."

Swinney's case isn't all that tough to make. While Fournette's 1,202 rushing yards are impressive, Cook is averaging more yards-per-carry (8.7) than Fournette (8.0), is averaging more yards after contact and he's been a productive part of Florida State's passing game. In all, Fournette has racked up 172 more yards and three more touchdowns than Cook, but the FSU tailback has 32 fewer touches and has played the past few games on a gimpy hamstring. When it comes to big plays -- of 20 yards or more -- Cook has 16 to Fournette's 13.

That, in Swinney's eyes, is the difference.

Or maybe the difference could be level of competition? The ACC is a joke. Ask any NFL scout who they would rather have on their team.

I've actually grown to respect Dabo a lot more than I originally did in his early years, but I also think he overvalues his opinion with what feels like weekly soundbites from him about debatable topics with no clear answer. Why couldn't he just say Cook is a phenomenal back and leave it at that?

Sweeney wouldn't make it in the SEC.

He's a shitty recruiter and his teams always choke in big games.

I saw more fights that night than I ever have between any 2 fanbases. I ended up at the same bar as a lot of the Clemson football team later that night and watched one of their players threaten a female bartender and that was all I could take. Called it a night and took a taxi back to my room.

Fournette passes the eye test but you can't argue with Cook's results.

Clemson is always very athletic and has a lot of guys in the NFL right now. I'm sorry, but I have no idea how you reached that conlcusion

He fails to mention Cook has played one more game.

ETA: NVM, didn't realize FSU already had their BYE

Because he's a shitty recruiter.

He may have gotten lucky with a few kids, but overall it's a garbage team and they won't compete for a title.

Clemson plays FSU on 11/7. He's probably just setting the stage and pumping that game up.

Fournette and Cook are the 2 best backs in the nation. ACC people looking for any validation are the only ones desperate for cook to be compared to LF7.

Kind of washes out when he has fewer touches than Fournette doesn't it?

Not taking a side here, just saying that it doesn't really matter if FSU has played one more game if Fournette is getting the ball more than cook, when comparing the two players

They haven't choked nearly as much as they used to, and have you seen their recruiting classes lately?

Yes. They look good on paper, and in the ACC. But let's not pretend this is a program that's competing for a national championship.

Lot of Dabo defenders up in here. I do think he's a good recruiter though.
