I don't quite get the Texas hate. I've lived near Austin for almost 20 years and most of the people here are very casual fans. I know a few die hards, but most don't know anything about any other team. They aren't fans of the sport, but just cheer for the home team.
I had a house full of Longhorn fans for the game in 2019 and none of them really cared that they lost the game. It was pretty weird. Had LSU lost, I'd have told them to pack their shite and get out.
I was at the game tonight and the fans weren't bad at all, they seemed to hold out hope all night and enjoyed a great game.

Most Texas fans are very causal. Considering the term “fan” is short for “fanatic,” I’d go so far to say that they shouldn’t even be called fans. Most in attendance are causal observers that hopes the home team pulls out a W.
Austin has A LOT to do. If the “home team” stinks it up, the fan base will easily and quickly find something else to do.
Most Texas sporting events are a cross between college athletics and a socialite party where everyone is hoping their picture will get taken so their friends know they were there.

As a Texas resident, it is much easier to hate A&M than it is to hate Texas. Much, much easier.

I lived in Austin for about 10 years and it turns out a lot of the UT fans I became friends with are refreshingly self deprecating. And I’m sure my LSU fandom was obnoxious to them (almost got me kicked out of a bar on 6th after the 06 elite 8 game), so it goes both ways. Fans will be fans—no problem with it.

Agreed....and so glad we are hopefully about to start playing them annually. Love a good border war. I don't hate TX (yet...
) but living in SWLA, I much prefer watching LSU playing a Texas versus someone like a Tenn or Kentucky or Vandy or pick your SEC East Foe. Still a shame that game wasn't on major TV. 2 historic programs, #1 ranked team, big ball park, big crowd.
