Hate to see Ryan Yaites in the portal

I thought he made a good impression last year in limited reps as a freshman
I guess he fell on the depth chart with Gilbert coming in and McBryde showing promise as well

I appreciate their contributions to the program but I'll be glad when we move on Burns & Ryan. The guys behind them seem to have way more upside.

Agreed Burns must have some pics on Kelly. Worst starting safety I have ever seen in over 50 years of watching LSU football.

Sorry to see Yaites hit the portal because two LSU players I wish had exhausted their eligibility or were hitting the portal are Major Burns and Sage Ryan. I have compared Burns to Todd Harris who was another guy who never impressed me. Anyway, too bad Ryan Yaites is the secondary guy hitting the portal instead.

Hopefully new staff can help Burns with missed tackles, bad angles, and tell him to cut the celebrating a tackle 20yds down the field. Lol

There’s no way he’s worse than burns.
I really hope the improvement is real because Burns was flat out awful last year.

This is what’s frustrating. A guy hits the portal because he’s behind Burns on the depth chart.
I’d much rather tell Burns to hit the road than a 2nd year kid who might still actually pan out to be good.

Yaites is jumping the gun. He is a starter in 2025.

I get that people are down on Burns from last year. It could just be coaching though. In the first half of Kelly's first year here Burns was actually good. He has declined since then and I think it might be more to do with coaching than anything.
Sage I've never seen anything positive from him honestly. He just seems way undersized and rarely in position to make a play. I don't even recall him ever making a big play. He looked really bad in the spring game again.
But yeah, ideally we cut bait with these guys and find 2 capable starters in portal which I'm not sure anyone is available unfortunately. They need to bite the bullet and let the freshman start with growing pains. They looked way better than the starters. They're going to have issues but it will be worth it in the long run. They're not learning anything on the bench and the guys in front of them hurt the defense.
