I know it is now moot, by how is no one talking about the lost 20 seconds?

When Etling hit Dural, he went out of bounds CLEARLY before the whistle blew, yet the official waved the clock to continue from the 1:23 to 1:03 when Etling took the next step.

That is a full 20 seconds lost, and I have not heard anyone mention it.

SIAP, or commented on, and I know it is now moot, but did I miss this, or did somehow everyone else miss it.

Watch the replay. Sure, you can conclude that Dural's forward progress was halted, but the whistle did not blow until after Dural was completely out of bounds.

Comments?

At this point I don't care how we lost. If we had to lose like that to get today's results then so be it.

I know. I am grateful. But, it is a technical question I am curious about. Yes, Miles would have likely messed up anyway, but those 20 seconds could easily have made a difference in the result of the game.

The ref correctly gave him forward progress.

If forward progress is stopped in bounds and then the ball carrier is run out of bounds, the clock runs.

Correct call

Because we got beat soundly for 59:40. The last 20 seconds don't change that.

Yesterday's last 20 seconds was the epitomy of Miles' career here.

I will not miss that.

If that was all there was, yes, I concur. The point of this technical discussion is that I am 1000% sure that Dural was out of bounds before the whistle blew.

Are you saying that the official can completely ignore that, and indicate for the clock to continue based on his personal/individual judgment, over-ruling that forward progress supercedes the whistle?

I'm curious as to what other people have to say on this.

It seems like something freaky ALWAYS happens to LSU when they play either team from Alabama and it doesn't matter which venue.

For example:
1) The Early Doucet/Brandon LaFell holds? that were no calls in the 2006 Auburn game and I think there was an issue re: Jacob Hester as well,

2) the penalty against Ronnie Prude for jumping to block Vaughn's kick and fell forward on the Auburn player and Auburn got to rekick and won the game,

3) the Patrick Peterson interception against BAMA that was 1 to 3 feet inbounds and called incomplete...

I am certain there are more examples but my brain is hurting.

I think you are diverting to a separate valid point, but to be clear, I am referring to the "20 seconds" time from 1:23 to 1:30, not the last 20 seconds.

I've been saying the same thing and remember screaming at the TV while it was occurring. I haven't seen an explanation as to why this happened.

Bingo. I don't get why this is still being debated.

are you just saying this, or have you watched the recording. I am as certain as I can be he went completely out of bounds BEFORE the whistle, and THEN the on field official indicated to continue the clock.

Watch it and THEN tell me why the on field ruling was correct, please.

Also, re: the last play, the rules state that "if there is NOT a 10-second runoff, the clock starts: UPON...THE SNAP....OF THE BALL......"
