I honestly cannot understand how our very talented staff of pitchers are walking and plunking so many batters. We look like little league guys out there struggling to find the strike zone. EVERY one of them.
These guys are supposed to be some of the most “talented” pitchers in America.
Is Yeskie to blame?

The walks are concerning. The umps zone tonight explains some of it, I thought.

But the pitch calls (or execution of pitches) in 0-2 and 1-2 counts is baffling

I’m more concerned with hitting.
Pitching will come and go and relies a lot on the umpire’s given strike zone.
Outside of our big three, we can’t hit to save our life.

More like Nopeskie

But our staff did this last year too. Turned it together when it mattered

My opinion….
For whatever reason LSU doesn’t “coach” the mental aspect of the game
You 100% have to let a pitcher get him himself out of a jam but you also need to realize when he’s done he’s done
I’m sure it’s a very fine line for them to figure out but it seems like once some of them get rattled they are done

The hitting hasn’t been too hot either. Keep White and Travinski in the park and this lineup can be handled by decent pitching

The walks kill me. I feel a sense of dread that each walked batter will score.

I don't feel the same dread with a single. I guess it's giving them the gift of a base, plus the indication of loss of control carrying over to the next batter, that makes me worry so much.

I believe 4 of their RBI were on 0-2 or 1-2 counts. Hanging pitches in heart of zone

Hanging pitches in heart of zone is often helped by the ump forcing the man to pitch in the zone for a strike call. Arky pitcher got so many low outside strikes.

That was their ace. LSU bullpen

You never want to hang an 0-2 pitch with 2 men on. Slider in the dirt, fastball at letters. That’s just bad execution. That part had nothing to do with ump or bullpen.

There was a game a few back where Coleman came in and was throwing low with a purpose but got no close calls. He was pulled for walking too many. It is a two edged deal. You need to keep the ball down, inside or out. But getting calls is the key.

They just aren’t as good as this board made them out to be

Nobody ever is. Or as bad as this board makes them out to be.

OMG! Don't you dare pin the tail on the coach on this board! The baseball geniuses of TD.com will scorch you.
