He doesn’t understand the pace he needs to be mentally. That with his small hands is why Tua will be great and he won’t be. Remember He only did it one year at LSU. It’stheherd.”

He’s going to do what he did at LSU. Which is take over the team as their unquestioned leader. This is all working up to that.

Seems like this is either something you have or you don’t, not something that is taught.

Looks like JB could be an on the field OC.
Poor Cincy, so inept. They are realizing the mental horsepower of Joe beyond what they thought. One of his many attributes.

I was going to post something in the other direction, but upon further review, -

Yeah, the Bengals are mishandling this. I don't care if Burrow is ahead of the other rookies, or even ahead of some of the offensive starters. He's not intended as depth, he was taken #1 in the draft with the intention of making him your starter. I get going at a pace that doesn't overwhelm him, but if he's clearly digesting things and asking for more, you give him that.

I think you missed the point of the OP. They are not slowing him down for his benefit. The OC said the other groups are not up to speed where he is at and they have to catch up.

Let's put the brightest kid in with everyone else and make him go slowly also (hope that is not the reasoning)...on the other hand, let Jeaux's teammates see how smart he is and realize he is The Man to lead them.

That's pretty sad on the Bengals, part.

The fact that he's this far ahead of everyone shows that the Bengals are a shite organization, just like we thought.

I got that.

You know who else is ahead of the rest of the offense? Drew Brees with the Saints. Heck, he's probably ahead of half the offensive coaching staff. And that's good, because he can correct the players lining up, audible to a better play, etc.

For group meetings, yeah, ease back Joe. Stay on the same page as the group. But the coaches should give him everything he can handle right now, and wait until practice and camp meetings to throttle it in.

It doesn't matter if he's further ahead in the offense than his WR, as long as he has a feel on where that WR is at. He's the QB, he's the hub in this.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand this is why you’re the Cincinatti Bengals.

Sure, you keep the rookie meeting flowing for other rookies that aren’t on Joe’s level. What you do not do, however, is make the future of your franchise wait a day or two or three to get an answer to his questions. Have him and the OC working separately so he can get the information as soon as he’s ready for it so he can grasp the entire offense as soon as he’s able.

How do you know they are not doing this? The quote comes from what he was doing during a team setting. At that point it is best to stay on track so everyone involved understands what is going on.

Imagine being in a classroom for any subject and the smartest student in the room was deciding the pace the teacher went. Everyone but him would fail. The teacher has to teach at a pace that everyone in the room can succeed. After class the teacher and the smartest student can meet and discuss further topics.

Can't say I am surprised. Joe hates to lose, he will work his arse off to succeed.

It’s like y’all aren’t even reading the article. They aren’t telling him to stop studying. They’re telling him to slow down in the meetings. He’s asking questions or bringing up concepts that they haven’t reached as a team yet.

No one is taking burrows playbook away from him.

I only know what the coach said, which was they’d answer his question in 1-3 days. I hope there are things going on that he’s not saying.

Talent wise I’ve seen plenty of QBs ready for the NFL. Burrow has taken the mental approach starting18 months ago and been preparing himself for greatness like no other college kid I’ve seen in decades. Most of the big names come out cocky but not prepared. I think he has the tools to back it up if his team can get it together and allow him to do it.
