What that tells me is what I already knew; the SEC teams were paying players and now they’ve lost that advantage.

They’re also increasingly entitled brats. Just looks at Colorado. Celebrating every positive play down multiple touchdowns.

That’s almost everywhere. LSU’s defense did that last night after every one of the 5 good plays they made in a game where they were on the field for 88 snaps. Masson Smith made 1 or 2 plays and stands over people after each one. Don’t mind the other 40-50 snaps he was on the field where he didn’t do shite.

If I had given up 40 points and was in the fourth quarter, I’d make the tackle, go back to the huddle and put a bag back over my head. But I don’t live in a delusional world like most of these entitled dudes.

I am not defending it and I am not a sports psychologist but start with “what motivates a person to run full speed and crash into another person who intends to do you harm?”

Degree - yes, many kids on that sideline are there for a degree

Fun - it is a bunch of kids playing a game, right?

Pride & Glory - many kids actually do have sincere pride in playing for the purple & gold - have dreamt of it their whole lives.

Money - scratch out enough playing time and get some solid play on tape and you have options to transfer for a raise at end of season.

#1 Attention - deserved or not, these celebrations get them on Sportscenter. This isn’t actually new. Glenn Dorsey’s bobble-headed sack dance got him in highlights every single week and helped make him a top 5 pick in the draft. Not the ONLY thing, obviously, he had talent, but this IS all entertainment at the end of the day.

The combination of portal with NIL is what has ruined the sport. However, all major professional sports leagues strive for parity via salary caps / luxury taxes, etc. college football will figure this out and make changes to save the $port
