LSU WBB will be back...

Iowa played an incredible game tonight. Clark is the best pure shooter and scorer in the history of collegiate women's basketball. She shot 50% from NBA range today, almost all off the dribble, off balance, stepping back. Defense didn't matter. She was incredible. Not to mention that she also had 12 assists they had two role players go for 21 and 16. Angel had a poor finish after she got hurt, Morrow had an awful start, Van Lith went ice cold, and Williams had a poor shooting night after making a few that led to the early lead. Iowa outplayed LSU...no two ways around it.
Next year, LSU could potentially return everybody but Van Lith. Getting Samyah Smith back from injury will be huge because we had no depth...Del Rosario had moments but she wasn't ready to play quite yet. She needs a good offseason. Look for Mikaylah Williams to have an offseason like Flaujae and come back looking like a star next year. Morrow will have a full offseason with Mulkey as well. LSU brings in a true point guard from Lafayette Christian who is a 4x state champion. She knows how to win. Also brings in a 6'4" transfer from Arkansas who was a 5 star recruit. Plus you know Kim is eyeing more in the transfer portal.
Look around at NCAA women's bball...UCONN about to graduate their star. They'll be good no doubt, but they'll take a step back. USCw will still have their freshman star but lose 3 of their top 5 players. UCLA graduates 3 of their starters but returns Betts...will still be good due to that. Texas comes into the SEC and still has their star freshman, but graduates 4 of their top 6 players. USCe loses their 6'7" senior star, and their 6'5" backup, along with their best shooter. They will undoubtedly bring in more good players, but they lose a lot. Iowa will disappear from the spotlight completely.
LSU is poised to continue making deep runs like this every single year under Mulkey. You can't win a championship every single year. She didn't win every single year at Baylor, even while having a 6'9" superstar for 4 years. Geno doesn't win every year at UCONN despite having the most talent of any team in the field nearly every year. USCe has had the best rosters on paper for 4 consecutive years and has only won once. There's a lot of parity in women's basketball right now. LSU ran into the best player in the country today and she had a great day...it is what it is. Sit back and enjoy getting to watch a great team year in and year out while we can...because just a few years ago, we were watching not even make the NIT for several years. Looking forward to next year.

LSU also could return Van Lith. She has a COVID year available.

This program isn't going anywhere. I expect them to be back in the mix next year, and the next, and so on, and so on until Mulkey retires.

HVL transferring to Iowa.

I had expected/hoped Izzy would become a badass but I don't guess she's gonna be

We only lose Cardoso and already have Adel Tac in school. We bring everyone else back and bring in the #2 class. We will be even better next year.

To do what? Be the polar opposite of Clark? It was honestly laughable watching our “All American 3 point specialist” scared to shoot the ball while Clark jacked up 3 after 3 from halfcourt and just dominated

Don’t forget Flo is only a sophomore

I hope so, but it was worrisome how much they regressed in a championship year with everyone returning plus the number 1 transfer.

Everyone returning? Are you talking about LSU?
Posted on 4/2/24 at 7:19 am to dallastiger55
We lost to a 40pt scoring Clark and Iowa in the Elite 8. That means we're at minimum the 8th best team in the country.
Regressed? You people are delusional. I'm damn proud of those girls.

They made it to the elite 8 with no PG, zero depth.
We also are not the same team as last year. We lost way too much, no Morris, Ladazhia, Carson, Poole, Smith
The HVL experiment was definitely a leaning experience
LSU will be back but I’m sure Kim will adjust the roster construction this offseason

And I think the numbers game means HVL will not be in BR next season. She sure as hell is not returning to come off the bench.
Williams and Johnson will not only start in the backcourt but should be the focal points of the offense next season. Kim HAS to pull a starting playmaking PG out of the portal. There are your three starters. It just did not work out for HVL to be a PG. She joined what many of us thought would be a super team but she got eliminated in the Elite Eight this season, just like her last season in Louisville. Again, the backcourt situation dictates she should either transfer or declare.
I was really excited when Georgia Amoore hit the portal but disappointed when I heard she’s a no-contact. That means she’s following her coach to Kentucky. Regardless, I’m sure CKM’s priority will be to grab the best PG available out of the portal.
BTW, Tennessee told their HC Kellie Harper to hit the road. No doubt the straw that broke the camel’s back was that gigantic brain fart to let Cardoso shoot that wide-open three with Vol defenders just standing around in the SECT.
